My Tacoma POS 2

I called the dealer they said they will fix the leak. If they find enough damage they will do a buy back. I find that hard to beleve but when I told them the radio was changing channels by itself they sounded concerned.
Just so every knows this is a lot of water, I just don't want a Truck 3 years from now with mold and rusted wireing and other problems. I took some heat on the other thread. I hope people can under stand this truck listed for $28885.00 I gave them a check for $25191.00 out the door its a good deal. My title was in the mail friday and the water was in the cab the same day.
It's going in wensday, right now its drying out in the garage.

 

yet you had to start another one? we get your upset, and righfully so. I myself would be pissed to have a new truck with problems like that. However calling all Tacomas peices of crap because of yours is assinine. Good luck to you on gettting your repairs and I hope that it turns out well for you but why start another thread?

You won't get any heat from me MR. ED. I stood up for you on the last thread. I would be frustrated too if I got a lemon for 25k...from any manufacturer.
I like Toyota vehicles - they have their advantages/disadvantages, but I don't like them enough to get angry at people who have problems with their vehicles.
I would prefer a buyback from the dealer because water damage may not be noticable till down road...time is needed for rusting and severe molding.

I just looked at the truck you have and I see what the problem is. All rugged trails are in fact test vehicles for new toyota ideas, one that don't always work they way they were intended. I believe yours was the surf-n-play one, where water IS supposed to collect in the cab. Did they include the divers suit with your vehicle?

The radio is supposed to change channels by itself when you press the SCAN button. The SCAN button differs from the SEEK button in the fact that you only have to press the SCAN button once. THe SEEK button requires you to push the button more than once.

Toyota are great, especially Tacomas.

The other thread was locked. I take it back not all Tacomas are POS. It looks just my new one. Like I said on the last thread my 1999 TRD was the best car or truck new or used I ever owned. 9 years 222115 miles and never even had to change a light blub how crazy is that. I guess I was spoiled by having such a great truck. I just put on its 3rd set of tires. My friends were on thire 3rd trucks. Yes my grammer SUCKS.

 

Here's to hoping you can get your problems resolved . If not maybe you can get a buy back and find something that works better for you. And since you don't list it, what do you do to rack up 222,000 miles in 9 years? Do you travel for work?

I say Toyota NOT buying back that truck is absolutely unacceptible-it essentially has 'flood damage' through a gross build foible!! There is NO question here. Wiring, sensitive computer components, floorboard and interior material future integrity-why should you have paid FULL price for a truck that may fail any one of the components I mentioned-when hundreds of thousands of folks are enjoying non-waterlogged trucks for the same money? Bottom line-it should be rejected NOW just as it would've been rejected if the problem was dicovered on the assembly line! In other words their final inspections are inadequate, and instead of them catching it , YOU did. The truck still is not a pass in any way. Naturally, they will do their level best to make you keep it-but if you get tough and use this approach, and keep the fight going up the ladder there, you will win. I feel bad that you must go through it though, but such is life. Im sure the good folks here know in their hearts that your comments were not meant, but were emotion. Happens to all of us. I commute to Chicago 6 days a weak 75 miles a day. My family has a home up in Hayward WI its about 400 miles away, that's were I can hit the fire trails and when they end do some real wheeling. I live by some open land but most of it is old farms. Not much fun wheeling on flat land until a creek or a small hill get in the way.

 

Lemon is a really specific term when you are talking about cars. It means a problem that cannot be fixed despite the efforts of the dealer/manufac to repair. (Numbers matter-NY and FL lemon laws require 3 attempts to repair)
It seems that he didn't ask them to fix it- Just gave up on it and now that they are going to look at it... (see below)

I agree- They need to buy the truck back or even trade you a new truck (sans problems) because water damage like that is nasty and will create you problems for a long time.

 

A little heat never hurt, sometimes things get carried away. You are doing the right thing letting the dealer try to fix this, hopefully you can get the buy back and find a truck as reliable as your previous one. Hopefully it will be another Tacoma as you can tell by your last thread these trucks are loved. Good luck

 

Up date:
Dropped the truck off yesterday morning, by the afternoon they called said it was a windshield leak and it will be fixed.
Picked it up last night the carpet was still wet they told me to let it dry out in my garage with the mats out windows open.
The driver’s seat was stained; the hood and interior had the gummy sealer all over.
The best part is now the passenger side floor was wet this morning.
I called and I am bringing it back in tomorrow morning.

 

hey man......hope you get it fixed this time!!! i really hate stealerships!!! im about to go to war with our local toyota myself!! dealerships are friggin lazy as hell!!
