Finally got around to installing my headlight retro. Went with Morimoto Mini D2S 4.0's and Apollo 3.0 Shrouds from The Retrofit Source and got a second set of housings from Rock Auto so I could work on it over a few days. The whole process was easier than I thought it would be, so I'd encourage others to give it a try. The hardest part was aligning it all after I had it together (getting the projector dead level, and then re-aligning the headlights).

The difference in light output is incredible, with a great clean cutoff and insane high-beams. I went with a near-stock look which I hadn't really seen done before (partially because I didn't want to break out the spray paint). I think it gives the truck a great updated, unique look without looking too modified.

I have my OEM housings if anyone is interested and a pair of inner halos for the Apollo shrouds I didn't end up installing. PM me and I'll make you a deal (don't have enough posts just yet for an official for sale thread).

Thanks guys! Who wants to do this to their Taco? I have a set of headlight housings taking up space in my garage :)

Are you running LEDs or HIDs?

And do those shrouds have halos?

These are HIDs (Morimoto D2S Minis). I opted not to install Halos, but it would be pretty easy to do when you're in there (I actually bought the inner halos for the Apollo 3.0 shrouds and just never installed them). Did it all with info on TacomaWorld and a few youtube videos. Only special tool I needed was a Dremel.
