Searched the forums to no avail (maybe I missed it, sorry in advance).

I've got a noisy TRD supercharger idler pulley and have had no luck sourcing a direct replacement on-line (Shown on page 3 of the Supercharger Fit Kit instruction manual in hardware bag "C", item C3) Local dealer is not hopeful they will be able to source, but said they'd try.

Anybody able to point in the right direction or have a PN for the pulley would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Magnusson makes the supercharger. Maybe look at their site?

How many miles on the SC before the pulley went bad?

Approximately 230,000 trouble free km or almost 150,000 miles. Oh... and one belt change.

Wow. My belt has only 25K and looks like it is on borrowed time.

Have you serviced the S/C in that time frame and/or pulled it for a spark plug change?

OK, I guess I’m safe at 12,000 miles then.

No, the SC and engine have ran flawlessly every mile until the pulley started to get noisy about 250km ago.

I try to stay on top of the routine maintenance items. Here's a recent photo of the engine compartment.

    UPDATE;

Was able to track down the pulley part no. from Magnuson. For those that need to know, the smooth idler pulley in question is PN 56-05-01-021

After going around in a bit of a circle to try and get one via Magnuson (they don't ship to Canada) they sent me to Davenport Motorsports in Calgary. Davenport wasn't interested in ordering one pulley and sent me to superchargersonline.com.

Thanks to Brian at at http://www.superchargersonline.com/ for his prompt response and assistance (btw, the correct pulley does not show on the website) I should have the correct pulley coming to Canada in the next week or so.

I appreciate everyone's help and comments.

Neat. This is very relevant to my interests :p I've had the TRD supercharger installed on my 1GR-FE from new when I bought from the dealership. My last phone call had them pretty much throwing up their hands in the air saying "I don't know about maintenance." It seems since they discontinued use of the superchargers, they haven't trained their techs in maintenance. Boo.

Funny... I happen to be in Calgary. I've had to replace my belt at least 4 times in 120k kms. I've gone OEM every time (because of warranty), but now I'm going to do a gator belt at the very least.

Have you done the oil changes, needle bearing and/or coupler changes? I'm curious because I haven't done anything to mine yet (120k kms). No issues, but I think it's high time to stop relying on the stealership for answers. Will likely do a rebuild on my own later this spring (once all the damn snow finally melts).

Eric; I have not touched the SC since install other than replacing the belt about 8 months ago. The belt was showing typical minor wear cracks on the ribs but was otherwise "intact". However I am not naive enough to think about SC maintenance at this mileage and at what point do I do something. Of course I'm still driving the truck hoping the bearing doesn't pile up in the noisy pulley and smoke the belt before the new one arrives LOL.

When I went to the local dealer to enquire about a replacement pulley, the parts guys didn't know anything about the SC kit, sent me to the "authorized TRD accessories" expert, his first comment was "oh Toyota discontinued all of those things 4 years ago" suggesting there was no hope in finding replacement parts. I get a sense that if it's not brand new or current you're on your own.

My truck has 280,000 virtually trouble free km on it and I've owned it for 90% of those. I had the SC installed and have driven the truck all over the PNW since. I would like to get another 100k out of it before I replace it. I have a knowledgeable friend who was a Toyota tech for a lot of years who said with routine maintenance 400k shouldn't be a problem. I'll keep you posted!

Cool. Thanks for the additional info. Its comforting to see that what they say about "maintenance free" supercharger is pretty true. My belts keep cracking though. Toyota replaced the first few under warranty, but I did the last one on my own. It's showing signs of cracking already, so I'm going to swap out the belt with a gator belt. Hopefully I can get a few more miles out of that one. Anyways, at the very least I'm going to be doing the oil. If I'm feeling particularly bored that day, I'll take the whole thing apart and replace the coupler and re-grease the needle bearings.

Its nice to see that the engine can handle the boost without any apparent issues. We should start a high mileage supercharged thread (if it doesn't exist already). I plan on pushing this truck as far as it can go.

Hi there, I recently found a strange noise from the pulley's area on my engine bay. it started about 20 days ago, but it was an intermittent sound that I could not identify. Since last week the noise went to constant, and last weekend I went under the truck and fount that I had a bad idler pulley, but in my case it was the ribbed one, it had movement even with the bet on it and after removing the belt and HW found that the 5 rib pulley (C4 on TRD installation manual) had the ball bearing totally loose in it, that means a ruined idler. Now I need to find the right replacement but until now I had no luck. Does anyone have a part number or something that could help? I'm afraid it's better to change all the pulleys for a more reliable repair, don't you think so?
