What all did you do? What trails? Was the crossing to Mexico open?

GF had to work today :bananadead:

We drove to the camp site stopping along the way for pictures and exploring by foot. We made it to camp and saw a “mountain” that we decided to climb. We made it about 50% the way up before it was just to steep so we headed back down.

We then enjoyed a hella sick sunset and moon rise (pics coming). We enjoyed our solitude to the max and got pretty drunk lol

Next day we drove out and explored on the way out. We hit river road and enjoyed the epic views. We stopped and tried to put our feet in the rio grande but were chased off by bees at the spot we stopped.

I’m unsure if you could cross over. We didn’t try

There is a spot where you can cross into mexico. Just need your passport and you can go into their little town and have a drink at the bar.

Did you go to the 4x4 only area?

Yeah we sure did. Our camp site was Rincon 2 and requires 4x4 high clearance to even book.

I’ll have to find that crossing on a future trip

Yeah man it was a great trip. We started in Marfa and stayed at a 100+ year old ranch adobe home, then stayed at the Hotel St George in Marfa, went to the star party at McDonald Observatory and then went in to BBRSP. It was the first trip into remote areas for my GF and so mixing it up with art, food, plush hotel and similar really made the GF happy. Which made me happy. It was a killer trip.

We passed by there on our way to BBRSP. We will definitely head back since there is more to see.

Make em happy, they make you happy. Great formula :)

She also told me that she understands more now why I like to head off into the remote areas and get disconnected. This was the biggest victory of this trip I think

This is what I try to explain to my work mates. There's an entire world outside of cities. Just gotta be willing to explore a bit. They don't get it though. When I show them pictures they mention how cool everything looks but I can't seem to convince them to head out on a weekend even if it's just to Bastrop or Hidden Falls. They'd rather go to the bar.... :annoyed:

I can totally relate to this. Luckily we have a great group of folks in TTC and the other local groups who all seem to want to head out into the wild to explore. I’m super grateful for this. Big time
