I did some freshwater fishing for the first time in a few years this weekend. Caught some shad as they were running pretty well. My freezer is now stocked with some bait for my trip this weekend. Seems like the reds are starting to come in as well as a few bluefish.

Shad should be running on the james river close to me. I need to go check that out!! Most years you can't keep them lately. I need to check the rules. They make really good catfish bait.

They are a blast to catch especially on light tackle! I was using a kastmaster and 4lb line. They certainly are a well regulated fish species that's for sure!

Went back to my shad spot after work yesterday. Lost both my kastmasters within 25-30 casts... its just a little rocky. On the bright side I saw stripers chasing shad and hitting the top. Wish I brought my inshore rod then I could have probably caught some!

Hey watch what you say about shimanoo_O:thumbsup:

I never have owned any of the expensive ones but have a few antiques in the 100$ range that still work just fine.

The last Sahara I bought did seem a little off. Thought is was just my imagination. I guess it's just like most things these days. Screw the employees and customer. It's all about the shareholder now.

At this rate, I'm hoping it'll at least be in the 60s by the end of the month. I'm headed to Hatteras no matter what the weather is though.

The point started out beautiful this morning. But then turned very violent with heavy rain and lightning. Decent bite of big drum lastnight but you had 50-60 people to fish with and very slow this morning, I got the only fish out of 20 some people in a 4hr period, and it was only a small one.

That sux. I lost my fishing buddy many many yrs ago when gramps couldn't really go anymore. I know the feeling not having someone to just get out on the water and fish.
