So...from 17:30-ish on is where we turned about and didn't get the group over those rocks. It turns into a "do we waste a couple hours of our lives getting over this obstacle because there's a 30 truck conga line and some of those are stock without any armor and we don't want someone feeling uncomfortable trusting internet strangers' directions" vs "turn around and ride more trails somewhere else"?

It's doable in a stock truck, without lockers or 33" tars. We can use rocks, trees, or the lucky find spare tire/wheel to get over it. We can get a couple more experienced folk leading w/ winches and most likely make it over this without issue.
The alternative; run it in reverse and drop down, rather than climb up, those rocks. At least that'll get rid of those hideous chrome plastic corners on any 3rd gen rear bumpers

Some people will not be liking dropping down these rocks. They can both be very intimidating.

WAY easier than it looks going up. Just stay to the left as far as you can. .

Only 14 of us when we started.

The line on #1 can be done on same line Matt took with a locker and momentum. Left line you crawl...

Easy to get a winch turned around above both obsticals.

At worst...add an hour to get everyone up the hill. Would not want stock bumpers. Any generation...

Ripped off all four mudflaps. Scratches all down both sides 6112’s up front on 3rd notch 5100’s in back with Toytech 1” block Skids & sliders from SOS Concepts I got rid of the 1” block and put on Wheelers 1 1/2” progressive AAL. SPC UCA. Be sure your standing on the drivers side when reading the instructions! I swapped sides so many times that I can swap UCA’s in 15 minutes. I put in the 3/4” spacer to eliminate the Taco Lean, and just got my 4th alignment. Traded the OEM rims for 17” Sport rims and a bora bora 1” spacer. I got my Firestone 285/70/17 MT2’s. Pelfreybilt gas tank skid and hi-lift jack should be here Friday. Looking at bumpers, but I think they will wait for next year. So far I’m happy with my build. I’ve done it all myself, leading to a lot of cussing and frustration, but it’s all mine.
If you’ll winch me,, I’ll try it.

And get me to a greyhound station so I can get back to Kokomo to regroup.

    I like your optimism

I'm just being a realist. It will be much more than an hour getting up just that section alone. Hell, I may not even be able to make it up under my own power! Probably need a winch/strap drag.
Toss in some rock or logs to help decrease approach angle and we're good.

I just don't want to scare the stock folks off, yet. Shit. Most of them have me beat just because they have a locker or fancy pants crawl control.

The goal is to have fun and ALWAYS make it home from the woods with everything you had attached when you got there.

What on Gods green earth do you need all that crap for... just drive the truck up the hill.

It really is easy. Who uses crawl control ?

BTW....Wouldn't the person who's actually been up the hill (twice) be "the realist" ?

    Never mind.... go another trail.

I dont hear them making excuses.

Take the stock trucks out the way we went out last year. There's really nothing to be afraid of...

As someone who's actually done that hill, we've done FAR more difficult with stock trucks.

I'm not making excuses. I'm preventing stock and brand new trucks from getting trashed. You're just being contrary and grumpy for no reason and not helping ease their mind at all.

That gate led onto resort property. It could very well be closed/locked this time and there won't be an alternate route out of there without backtracking the whole trail in reverse.

I am in for this. I'm in AVL so its pretty close to me and as long as you guys are confident a stock TRD OR 4x4 can have fun without destroying itself I'm in. I voted for the June 21st - June 24th but I could potentially do either weekend.

I seem to recall just about all the core group wanting to do something with somewhat of a challenge.

A stock group can do Spaas Creek or Pumpkin Hollow.

You are just as apt to run into tough obsticals in any section.....on any trail.
