wonder what the tow package consists of? and if i could possibly modify one to my taco. but lets say, i can get the frame to tow the capacity, would the motor handle it with a supercharger? I've never really played with force induction before so I'm not sure.

Woo-hoo! Due to time stuff, you'll probably have yours installed first (which is good, because I can avoid any snags you hit :p)

I don't know if you can get the tow package on a 5-lugger. You'll have to ask the dealer. If you put the SC on it and their tow package, the only thing I'd be worried about is the clutch. When I e-mailed Apline a while back, they said the clutch (manual transmission) is fine unless you are off-roading. So the added stress of a 6000 lb boat may be too much for it.

Talk to a dealer, they'd know better than me, but I think a 6,000 lb boat may be too much for our little trucks.

Its actually all about the engine, 4-cyl prerunners/4x4's have the same suspension as the v6 trucks, and all of the frames are the same. See below at what changes the capacities from 3500/6500 - nothing to do with frame or suspension.

    All above info excludes X-runners.

The “towing package” consists of a class IV receiver hitch, supplemental engine oil cooler, transmission cooler (again automatic transmission only), Heavy-Duty battery, 130 amp alternator, fully functional 7-way round plug, and a plug and play brake controller pigtail.

Am I missing something but I don't see anything in that towing package that mentions engine.
All those items could be added to any truck

yea....you can't get the towing package with a 4-cyl. The towing package is a factory option not a dealer option.

Yea but you can add all those items (if needed) from the after market.
Of course you need the receiver hitch.
At least you would need a brake controller,7 pin plug, and wiring since you have to have trailer brakes with a 6500 lb tow.

Well if you believe by adding the above things to your 4-cyl one hundred-ish horsepower motor will make it tow 6000 lbs then be my guest.

All those things relieve the stress on a motor/trans already capable of towing 6k lbs.

The 4-cyl is in no way capable of towing 6k lbs, even if you supercharged it getting it at the 6-cyls power level i'm not sure i would trust the transmission because it was not designed to tow that much.

Recieved the instructions for the kit via e-mail. I'm not allowed to repost the whole thing, but I have concerns about the fittment. I noticed from the pictures that the kit was installed on a Hilux, not a Tacoma. Also, the air intake box is a different shape. It's circular with the intake tubing coming out the top. It's fairly large, and it almost looks like the Hilux there does not have the air-pump for emissions that we have. If my air box doesn't work (need to fabricate an air-intake), and more importantly the emissions system would need to be disconnected (not street legal) I will be forced to return the kit with a hefty loss on my end due to shipping. Waiting on e-mail to see.

Edit: My paranioa is getting the ebst of me, haha. They said it should of been taken care of, and will fit. I just want it here already!

They had me email them some pictures of the engine bay with some dimensions and I asked them why and they said cause the engine bays looked a little different. After I emailed them they said everything checked out so I wonder what's gonna happen

I'd say with the supercharger and a performance clutch, you wouldn't have a problem towing 5k pounds. Who knows you might even be able to squeeze off 6k, but that would be pushing it due to a lack of torque.

Now would I do it? No. I have a 3/4 ton diesel to do that with. It appears to me that towing ANYTHING with the supercharger and stock clutch would most likely be a bad idea unless you really watched your foot.

So they advertise the kit for a Tacoma but haven't tested? OMFG.

NOT having good feelings about this AT ALL.
