I meant no disrespect by the haters comment, and it does look crazy, but yeah I've only got 14k on my BFGs. But I ordered some Falkens Wildpeak AT3 and some Cooper Discoverer AT3 because I couldn't decide on which, and I can't stand the Mexi Cali look.... I'll Craigslist my BFGs and hope for the best.

Good looking Taco you got there by the way...

Any reason you can think of that I can't do 315/70 Falken Wildpeaks on those TSS rims of mine? Rubbing issues? Went to another Discount Tire and they said they would fit, I just don't want any rubbing issues.

Just the tire rub on the spindles is all I can think of. Do you have the wheel spacers already with you? If so I would take those to Discount Tire with you and after they install your setup back on the truck, if it touches then go ahead and have them put on the front spacers for you.

Well... it turns out that my insistence on using my stock 17x7.5 TSS wheels has some inherent shortcomings! Like, my badass Falken 315/70/17s (approx. 34.5") would not clear in full lock at the f*#cking cab mount! Even with 6.5" of lift! :annoyed: So, we took that off and tried a 305/70 (33.8") and no joy. So at this point I was reluctant to try the 285/70s I had also ordered because they are also 33.8" but just a little narrower. Well, they fit, but at full lock I had the installer jump up and down on my step rails while in full lock and even these do touch, but just barely, on up- travel. So, before we mounted up all four, we tried a 295/70 (33.3" x 11.6"), and even though it is only a hair smaller diameter-wise (but a little wider than the 285/70s), it cleared that cab mount area just a little more.

In any case, this photo shows the 315/70 with the stock 265/65 on back. Crazy!

Did you get your alignment done after the lift install? Seems like the alignment numbers affects the Tacoma’s a lot as far as rubbing is concerned.

Now in this next photo, you can see there is barely .75" of clearance or so with the 285/70s. My question is this, for anyone- since I need a high-water crawler and will do only minimal off-roading up at the Lake, do I need to sweat this tight clearance? It's only on full lock and even then I couldn't get it to rub by just having a 200lb guy jump up and down on the step rails. And even though the 295/70s is only a hair smaller diameter-wise ( a little wider is a bonus ) it had even more clearance. Discount has allowed me to ride around on these until the 295s come in but I WILL have to decide, soon. I just can't see rolling around on 285/70s if these other two choices won't work. Thoughts? Anyone please...:help::boom:

So is the width the problem or the height. I talked to maxtrac dealer and he told me with a 8 or 9 inch rim the 6 1/2 kit will clear 35s

What's your lift setup going to look like? Definitely interested in your results...

I have 6.5"/ 5.5" and the 315s (34.5") were close to clearing but definitely rubbed on full lock. Width was the issue for me. FYI, Maxtracs with 5100 Billies and OME 887 coils for a full 6.5" in front. 4" block with @HeadStrong Off-Road 3-leaf AAL which added 1.5" for a total of 5.5. Perfectly level. Driveshaft spacer and 1.25" Bora wheel spacer in front and 1.75" out back.

    So my 285/75/17 (33.8 x 11.22) should clear?

That's my current setup that I left with this afternoon. But they just barely clear (see photos above). I'm a little concerned about stuffing it in full lock (how likely is that by the way?) and it rubbing. But they do clear barely for now.

285/75s, but ordered 295/70s because they cleared just a tad more and are a little wider. But not sure if I'm going to swap out.:confused::confused:

FYI, 285/70 cleared no problem, but they're just a little smaller diameter wise than the 285/75, but about the same as the 295/70. BUT, the 295/70 is wider so it looked better than the 285/70, to me...
