Yes get a coach 100%. You can't do it on your own. You can try, but you won't be anywhere near ready come meet day and you will be so overwhelmed you will miss 9 out of 9 lifts.

Word. Just gotta run it by the wife first and see if shes going to let me move forward. It's quite a bit of money registering for the USPA and then the meet and then getting a coach.

Word, I'm really wanting to do it, seems like fun, but It's and all day thing and yea it will be a lot for me. My best lifts to date are

BW 218-222 (Depends on how healthy I eat)
    Squat- 325 for 2
    Bench- 275 for 4
Deadlift- Pulled 395 Sumo a few weeks back. Probably around 405. 395 felt kind of easy but left 1 at least in the tank.

I haven't been focusing on my strength just more hypertrophy since my wife shot down my wanting to get a coach (Cailer Woolam) we'll see. I really really want to. Gives me more of a reason to work harder, not just for aesthetics but I really do want to get stronger, compete at least once, brag yo my coworkers that im a power lifter like @ThunderCookies and coach @Newlife

I think registering with USPA was less than $100. Each meet is around $100. My coach is $75/mo and $25 per meet for day of “handling”. He makes my programming and keeps me on track. I send him videos everyday and we usually catch 3-4 workouts together a month when our schedules allow

Sweet. Yea I've seen your insta lifting nudes. Registering is about 60, full power is 80, coach would be around 150 and what ever gear I need for the meet. Just depends. I just want to have a goal to shoot for you know? Yea I fun lifting and getting stronger but I want to have a purpose. Lift heavy and lift often!

Yeah I guess the swag adds up. Gotta buy a singlet and I bought new knee sleeves, belt, and wrist wraps too(make sure anything you buy is USPA approved, they have a very extensive list to look over).

I hit a wall in my training and needed something to switch it up. Been doing the same ole shit for a couple years and decided to let someone else tell me what to do who knows better than me. I’ve learned a ton and already hit #s I would be miles away from if I was still dicking around on my own. Getting up on that platform is a rush too. Anxiety and adrenaline x1000

I did 375 beltless sumo Monday night. 3 sets of 3. Felt good. I think I'm going to work on some slow negatives too and make sure I'm not losing my form coming down so i dont have to reset too much.

Shit happens. Enjoy some time off and come back rested.

Keep your protien high, eat enough fats and watch your overall cals. Get more sleep. It’ll be good. The rest might do you some good.

I was just told this morning I am required to take 4 days off by The Warden. I’ve been hobbling around the house so apparently I need “rest”.

A month would suck though but it shouldn’t be any serious loss. Recovery is #1

I’ve been going 6 weeks strong on this training block and yesterday the fatigue really set in. Squats felt like shit but my coach and I watched them back and they looked great, just slow. I’m skipping today (or doing a light day just to stay moving) and finishing this week out Friday morning and then heading to Disney World until next Wednesday. It will be a much needed break from the weights then I’m back and 6 weeks out from the meet...

I’ve started working on my sumo pulls. I’ll eat butt if it means I can pull over 500 :notsure:

Our bet is only for conventional.

And no butt eating allowed. Steroids, sure. Butt eating, no.

Funny I was wanting to ask you guys how often you take a few days off for a recharge.

Glad I’m not the only one that needs a break.

Pulling sumo will help my conventional too. I’m not scrapping one for the other. Our bet is still on. New stipulation, loser eats butt....not sure who is the winner in that scenario

I am terrible at sumo. I can't even pull 315 sumo. I don't know why. I have been thinking of incorporating it, thinking it will help me with conventional. Let me know if this works for you.
