I used this stuff. I put a layer on the truck window frame just around the sliding rear window and a matching layer on the camper window frame. The slider on the camper folds inward on my shell for cleaning which made it easy. I never had any buffeting issues.

I may have tweaked a few things...
The gasket might work just fine for you depending on how it fits. Mine doesn’t touch paint at all so it shouldn’t cause any damage. The shell window is slightly smaller than the seal around the cab glass so my gasket only touches glass. I did have to fold it in on the top so the upper corners have a small leak, but it only means I have to clean the glass once in a while. Small leaks haven’t been a problem for me so it should be noted I have not water sealed the entire camper:

I can take a better picture later when the sun is down and I can see with the bed lights. The inside area of the cab window is smaller than the outside part that mates with the gasket:

Also the bottom part of the gasket doesn’t touch at all so even if water came through the corners at more than a drip (it doesn’t) it just rolls straight down the back of the cab and not into the bed.

    Some really cool shit

Considered the boot when I first got my shell. But the thing is, I got the Tacoma and shell to keep the dogs out of the cab. Got tired of constantly cleaning dog hair out of the cab. And was told the seal is a PITA. Many reasons. That ice chest cooling rig looks decent. But you'd probably go through a lot of ice.

I just moved two 800 pound loads of sand 4 times each and spent the last couple days on my knees doing a cut and fill foundation on a sloping yard for the kids sanbox. Did I mention the roots and river rocks? Or the surprise irrigation line right in the middle?

If you have a slider on the rear cab window and a slider in the front shell window, you can get a flexible tube accessory from Campways, or I guess these days, online. It folded flat when not in use, and when deployed, it basically was two spring hoops at either end of a plasticky-mylar tube that would spring open and conform to the glass. I had one in my 93.

Shit, I cannot find anything like this online now. If I still have mine and run across it, it's yours.

Or you can get a "truk boot," but those also will screw your paint over time, I believe.

We found one at our house last summer but we live in Oakland and we never hear close gunfire near our house so we were very puzzled. Was in back yard near fence so either really bad aim or came in with something else and just ended up ther
