A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
I have no idea if other states do as Missouri does, but in Missouri according to our State Patrol -- there are no "accidents" --they are all "crashes" and they all have a cause-- mostly people --sometimes weather, but even then, the "people" are still basically the cause as they are not driving with consideration given to the weather

No front plate required in AZ, NM, and TX so you were legal.

TX requires a front plate. That's why they issue to you 2

Correct most cops don't write you a ticket for not having it displayed. Still required by law though

FreeBSD comes with a toor uid 0 account, as I recall it starts a different shell or something.

My knowlege is out of date then.
All the UHaul trucks I've seen are licensed in AZ with apportioned plates (meaning they pay whatever state they drive in per mile). They don't have front plates.

Those are licensed out of AZ. Governed by AZ laws I believe.

FWIW, nineteen states don't use front plates: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia. It's real nice not messing up the front of a new car with a license plate. :)

My dad, nearly forty years ago, also claimed the same. It's a car crash, not an accident. In virtually all instances, someone screwed up, thereby causing the crash. Even if it was due to someone not replacing worn tires or not maintaining proper tire pressure, leading to a blowout at speed. With rare exception it comes down to a human factor as the root cause.

Yes. The root account typically had the most basic shell, sh, in order to minimize resource use by root processes. The toor account was typically set with a more feature filled (and more resource hungry) shell such as bash or csh. Also, most systems disallowed command-line login as root. So, admins pretty much just issued an su command to "switch user" to the root account or they started a new session and logged into the toor account. Both of these practices were a bit risky since the wrong command or wrong command-line parameters (*) could bring down the system. Sometime in the mid 80's the sudo command was "invented" and came into common usage towards the late 80s or early 90s; with the sudo command and admin could perform a single command as root while remaining within their user-level permission set. Having to use sudo tended to get admins to focus on the command and lessened the risks of human-error caused downtime.

    (*) there's a *very* big difference between "rm -rf ./" and "rm-rf /"

Thanks, missed that one. They used to be a two-plate state as I remember, when did they switch?

    Interesting to see the distribution...

Huh. I could swear all the PA cars were dual-plated in the 80's-90's when I lived in central NYS, but guess not.

Single plates as long as I can remember. I think what is funny is that of all the antique plates I see at flea market and yard sales, it's only one plate. I've never seen a matched set. It makes me wonder if they ever put the second plate on back in the day
