Do I attempt to use my spare 10# co2 tank for onboard air (tools, tires, balloon animals). I have a 5' bed, so I just worry about losing space after the install.

Depends on how many balloon animals you can get out of 10#? Last thing you want is to be out wheeling and not be able to give those last few in line their animal.

First things first, I'm a realist.

And I realize I use the bed of my truck a lot for trips since I don't have a trailer.

I bought the truck to haul shit. I like my bed space.

 

We do ok, until we add bikes. Then bed space becomes very precious.

 

Yes! This is an issue I have run into. Part of the reason I went with the simple crossbars.

Gets the bikes out of the bed. And still able to put all the gear in underneath.

I may look at doing that since the rack will be the new max height of the truck. If I can keep it in line, or under, that would be capitol.
