I was thinking of making an ABS/PVC solar shower and also wondered about durability on Baja roads...plus I started thinking about having to be reliant on sun and not really being able to control temperature...

I saw a propane water heater/shower unit (Basecamp) that looks pretty decent...and also the Helton heat exchanger... I'm still looking into those. It would be nice if there was a dedicated "Camp Shower" thread...

Care to share any rough plans for your setup? I've been looking at waterports but not trying to spend 250 for something I could probably make way cheaper. Looks legit!

It's a 4" pvc schedule 40 pipe, definitely overkill for my use but since I got it at work I'm not complaining. I used a 4" to 3" connection at both ends and put a 3 way T on it. Capped one end of the t and the other had a threaded cap and that's where I fill it from. I used folded rubber under the fill end to give it a slight down slope to allow gravity to take care of the water. The nozzle end is the tricky part. I was lucky enough to find a spare 3" water testing piece that ties into the line at 3" but has a valve that is about 3/4" so with it being so small it has a good amount of pressure for just being gravity fed. I can post more pics if anyone wants some when I get home on Monday.

Just pulled the trigger on a 3/2 7till8 fullsuit... Paid about $185...free shipping. Excellent customer service. Should arrive tomorrow.

    Anybody try that brand yet?

I got it on a holiday sale, then saw the Vissla suits for about the same price...I actually like the color schemes on the Visslas better, but could not retract my sale from 7till8 because they were just too nice and their warranty is basically for life vs. Vissla's 1 year. So, I'll likely pick up a Vissla 4/3 down the road a bit.

Yes, I've been through both websites several times over the past few months. I bought the 7till8 suit around Christmas time, but didn't have it shipped until a couple of days ago. Should be arriving in the mail today.

No worries...someone told me that the founders of Vissla came from Billabong, but I'd double check that info...said good things about them.

Jon at 7till8 has been nothing but great to work with. Customer service so far A+ and love the fact that they stand behind their products for longer than 1 year...sounds like they will repair any problems for the life of the suit. We'll see how it fits and works in the surf.

Please keep us posted on that new 7till8 suit. I've got a Vissla 7Seas 3/2 chest zip that I like a lot and have been looking into getting a second as I found them at a reasonable price on Steepandcheep.com. I'd never heard of 7till8 until you mentioned them and they're non-custom suits are pretty reasonable. If they've got a better warranty, I may pull the trigger on one of those bad boys. A little extra money upfront may be worth the hassle down the road with repairs, etc.

Will do. That Vissla looks nice...really like the naval blue color, but gonna try the 7till8...

I've got an almost brand new O'Neill Psycho 2 4/3 that I haven't used since moving to Phoenix from the Ventura area about 8 years ago...but I'm thinking the new 4/3s are way more flexible...so I'm considering a Vissla 4/3...for surfing Baja Vizcaino area and Oxnard north...

I'm going to have to check out that Steepandcheep.com site...paying full retail blows...

    On the topic of wetsuits...

Any New Englanders on here? or cold water surfers (sub 40 degrees)

My O'niell 6/5/4 is finally falling apart after about 8 years and its time for a new winter suit. Stopped by a local shop today and they had Hyperflex Voodoo 5/4/3 for 35% off. Wondering if anyone has any experience with them?

Figure my 6/5/4 is probably 8+ years old now... so a new 5/4/3 should be warmer then that... or should I stick to the warmest possible suit and look for a 6/5/4... the Voodoo is made in a 6/5/4. Didnt have a ton of time so maybe Ill call em tomorrow and see if they have a 6/5/4 in.

Anybody scored lately? Socal looks like it's getting a little bump late this week.

yep one of the most fun beaches I have ever surfed. Definitely not for the faint of heart. You think it gets easier when its head high, it will still snap your stick and rupture your eardrum before you hit the bottom. Spent two months there, the second time I went. Biggest I surfed it was 15ft on the face. It was pretty fucn serious. When it gets bigger there are like 30 point breaks all around there a short drive away. It is biggest in august, not saying it won't get huge in May too. Last time I went was in May a couple years back, not too crowded, and didn't get below 4ft, and maxed at 12ft (hawaiian). The 12ft days we were at the points. 24ft tubes was not on my agenda.

haha yeah man, you want to get consistent tubes, its a good area, just really heavy. El Salvador is a great place for someone with only a couple years on his belt, same with costa rica, hell go up to san francisco, all of fall ocean beach is a tube fest! Jalama in Santa Barbara too!

I've been reading barbarian days by Bill Finnegan and he talks about ocean beach being so heavy in the winter. Huge barrels even by Hawaiian standards
