TRD exhaust sounds tits. ...Will it fit the 3rd Gen 2.7L?

    Here's one on a 2nd Gen 2.7L.

    a few...
It exhale’s better as the rpm’s climb plus getting alittle better gas mileage around town and/or on the highway (~1-2mpg).

It's a polite way of telling him that aftermarket exhaust systems are essentially pointless with little to no performance gains unless on the proper vehicle. An off-road truck is not quite the performance screaming, drag racing, track car type

I consider an audible exhaust a benefit on a manual tranny vehicle. Auto, not so much.

I would tend to agree with you. On a manual transmission, with a person who cares about their clutch, an aftermarket exhaust system actually DOES sound good IMO
Plus, it makes shifting even easier because you can hear the RPMs

I had the dealer install the TRD cat back on my 1999 V6 Tacoma with a manual transmission, and sounded very good.. I had the dealer install the TRD cat back on my 2017 V6 Tacoma with an automatic transmission and don't like it as much...

I don't care what any of you say...

A loud exhaust on anything under 400hp sounds stupid..

All your doing is listening to something made for fuel economy.. And guys like me have to laugh, because everyone is under educated on exhaust theory and thinks they have now unleashed a monster...

I've had lots of V8's.. With lots of power.. Tried an exhaust for 2 weeks on all of them, and then realized, I bet my neighbors love it when they know I'm leaving every morning at 5am.. And took it off..

The stock exhaust is not restrictive... Possibly at 6000rpm...

When you start your truck cold and the exhaust is loud... And then all of a sudden it quiets down... that is because thats how long it took to pressurize and fill the muffler with exhaust gas, which works with the baffles to restrict noise..

A hooter exhaust gas temp and smaller pipe can be better in some circumstances than a large dia pipe with cold exhaust gas..

there is never a perfect exhaust... It is impossible.. The closest thing is on a lot of these newer half tons, there is a a flapper valve to help hold the heat and drone..

Ford has the most unique exhausts, as they are straight through with Helmholtz tech inside to keep the noise down..

Guess I am the only one who thought MBRP was fine! It fit well, paid <$250 for the STAINLESS STEEL version, and has held up well over 2 winters here in New England.

Also, I keep religious logs of my fuel mileage. Without any other changes to the truck or commute, the exhaust net a 0.9MPG improvement, averaged over 5 tanks of fuel before and after installation. An improvement is an improvement, whatever it is!

I think a lot of people confuse a truly loud exhaust with drone. Mine is loud, really loud...it doesn't drone though. Can't have silent and also loud...unless you add cutouts!

Basically it boils down to, it's my truck and i'll do what i want to it.
I have an MBRP that i cut the pipe off after the axle. It's loud and screams when on the highway, but that was the point. To make it loud. I drive a orange truck, it sticks out visually, and i want it to stick out sound wise too.

I think the message is that it’s obvious hp gains and fuel convservation is minimal. Some people just want a deeper tone.

I’ve driven many vehicles with modded exhaust, but the only one that truly benefited from it and sounded amazing was my Evolution. I think if someone wants to throw an exhaust on a Taco for a better sound, I say go for it. You can’t please everyone either way.

Cut out the stock muffler and weld in a Flowmaster 40 series or a Borla. Leave the existing tail pipe unless you want the exhaust tip elsewhere. No reason to spend extra $ when the stock pipes last longer then aftermarket. Want it even louder and free up exhaust flow? Then remove the 2 rear cats, no codes will be thrown

I agree with you completely.......HOWEVER, aftermarket exhausts just really do sound bad on our V6 engine. I drive up a 4 mile steady to moderate incline to and from work every single day, and I "hear" these 3rd gen tacomas with exhaust and they might as well be a mariachi band with how much the gears change. Its insane.

I think my real frustration comes from our neighbors kid playing his trumpet after the sun sets and Im trying to get my 10 month old down for the night. At that point I've had enough pointless noise from children, trumpets and automatic V6s LOL
