the 2" tank lift, gets me about 60 miles to a tank, and that is if I dont try to make it backfire. :bananadead:

Ordered a 1.5" to get me some miles back.

I have a Bell Star carbon Hess helmet, and I'm looking to replace it. Previously, I wore a Suomy Spec R1 and I loved it. The fit was perfect, ventilation was great, and the wind noise was acceptable.

Does anyone have any feedback on 2017-2018 helmets, particarly Suomy, Shoei, Arai, Bell, or AGV?

If it helps, I don't do any track riding as of yet. It's mainly spirited road riding and cruising.

You won’t find a helmet as light as the Suomi but an arai rx-q will fit similarly and feel so much nicer on your head. Worth a look if you’ve got 500 to spend. I find most people who fit suomis don’t fit shoeis well.

Thank you for the suggestion. I don't really have a budget in the sense that I'll buy whatever meets my (subjective) criteria. I do not skimp out on safety, quality, comfort, and utility/visibility. That said, I'm not going to spend $1500 on a carbon fiber Rossi edition AGV, either.

Your comment about Shoei reminds me...

I had a Shoei back in the day, I don't remember the model but it was their top tier model circa 2007-2008, and I seem to remember that the fit felt a little off. Not quite uncomfortable, but not perfect either. Then again that's ten or eleven years ago. Memories fade and my noggin hasn't seen a Shoei in that time either so I really don't know.

There seem to be a heck of a lot more helmet choices now than there was when I bought my Bell Star in 2010-2011, so despite reading and watching reviews on what's out there, I prefer feedback from the riding community to augment what vendors are reviewing and pushing.

Arai and shoei are still ahead of the game in terms of fit, finish, quality, and of course the X factor of heritage. Bell has been around a while yes but they’ve just never been able to keep up other than the star. The only drawback was it was always a much bigger profile compared to the other two. Other companies you’re paying for graphics, which I’ll admit may be better than arai and shoeis offerings. As for wind noise I can’t comment as I always wear earplugs. But if you though the Suomi was quiet you’ll be fine with any arai or shoei in terms of noise.

Your best bet is to go somewhere and try on a bunch see what fits your noggin the best.

or go to revzilla. they have fits associated with what type of helmet it is. shoei/bell are oval a bit so if you find one that fits well you can look up other types in the same style.

i found that their street helmets are a large on me but their dirt helmets are an XL on me (for Shoei)

I'll be picking up an RF1200 this summer

Hot damn! Now I need to add a sissy bar so I can bring stuff with me.

What shoes do you have? Ive been trying to order some Timberland Earthkeepers, but they are always too big. Need something else besides converse to ride in.

I can barely ride for an hour before my ass falls asleep. 1 hour to get to DC for Rolling Thunder. 1 million+ bikes

Haha thank you. They will likely be seen on a website in the near future. :fingerscrossed:

Yessir, About 9 hrs from where I'm at. Not a horrible ride but some strong winds we had to power through in Southern Wyo. Very worth it though!

I was honestly not super into the sissy bar when I first got the bike but it's grown on me. It was really handy to strap my bag to and whatnot. It's going to stay.

For shoes I brought along my Ridgemont Outfitter Monty's. Pretty awesome all-around type shoe. I doubled up with some warm socks and had zero issues with my feet getting cold.

The guy I rode with has a Supra hookup and he had some boot type crossover things that he seems to like quite a bit.

Thanks for this! I am not into the sissy bar look either, but I can see how useful it would be to strap stuff on, since there really isnt anywhere else.

Ill check out the Supras and those Sidi boots. Anything will be more comfortable than Chucks. I really dont like them, but have nothing else. And they look funky because I have size 12 foot.

It was super convenient, and it’s small enough that it’s not obnoxious. Between that and the saddle bags I was able to pack things up pretty easily.
