Fellow Taco peeps, makes me sad to say that my first post on here is asking for help trouble shooting my 3rd gen, Its a 6 speed manual and I'm having issues not sure what it may be. I started getting this weird lost of power and when stepping on it it struggles/sputters on the way up of the RPM gauge CEL light flashes and trac off flashes, then when going to a stop it feels as it's going to give out, CEL was check and I got a cylinder 5 misfire, I checked everything and checked out perfect test drove and ran fine. So cleared the CEL and just the other day it did it again this time the cylinders were lettered and I got Cyl E and another I can't remember, also an air flow disturbance, checked it all once again and checked out fine. Drove and cleared once again but today it has begun to do the same thing. The CEL has not stayed on for me to be able to scan. Maybe someone has had a similar issue that can help? I'm at 46,000 miles my warranty is up. I would appreciate and help/advice. Thank you.

25k is the free maintenance. Full warranty is until 36k. Powertrain is up to 60k.

Cylinder E is cylinder #5. If you are getting this code first step is replacing the ignition coil and spark plug (always a good idea to replace in pairs). I am a tech and deal with this issue pretty often. It could be intermittent

The crankshaft position sensor (CPS). It very well could be as it's a fairly common issue, at least on TacomaWorld..

Maybe! Maybe a cam sensor. They had a recall but I took it in before I had any issues a few months ago, it was the Crankshaft position sensor,

Make sure that you have a CEL with a stored code before you take it in.

hmmm. sometimes non-OEM exhaust systems do not have the expected back pressure that the factory sensors and computer detect. This could throw the computer system into fits.

Yeah maybe I was thinking the same I took it in for the recall I'm hoping it's that, I had no issues prior though.

If you've got a oiled filter in your AFE it could also be you Mass Air Flow sensor.
