I went cheap and got the Flowmaster Super 44.
Surprisingly, it sounds amazing, if not sinister after it warms up for a minute. It has the V8 gurgle sound while coasting which I like. The internal drone is only noticeable at certain RPMs. I will try to post a sound clip when I get home after a drive home.

8 and 9s are missing something that fails Canadian safety standards is what I was told by Mitsubishi. I've still seen a few for sale out in Ontario but 30 plus grand for a car with 200k on it yaynah

Yeah F that. Way too expensive, although throwing a different motor would be the easiest option, but still not worth it.

The X is great, just not built to race like the previous gens unfortunately. Blow too easy. Still great cars. I almost bought a Final Edition myself.

Try 4" true dual exh dumped at the axle running Flowmaster 1 chamber race mufflers . This is behind a 12.1:1 sbc running a 630" Solid Roller , try being quiet with that in your neighborhood

    My old evo

    I miss it.

I’ve been interested in the afe side exit in front of the tire cat back. Likely drones though. V6 drone can get pretty annoying.

Also consider an electric exhaust cutout from QuickTime performance available on Amazon or eBay among others...you can have the best of both worlds at the touch of a button.

I've really liked my Flowmaster Super44, too.

It's been on a month now and zero regrets.

I had a '11 WRX Hatch with muffler delete. It sounded great and the turbo kept it from being too loud.

OP- you may want to check out the URD Spec-U Exhaust. Hands down the best sounding system that I have heard. It gets rid of the buzzy V6 and makes it sound more European/exotic. Here is a link to some sound clips form the URD Sec-U thread:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...6-tacoma-v6-ac-lb-dc-sb.495926/#post-15419444

If you read the linked post above the sound clip links are in the post.

I say this in every thread that comes up on 3rd Gen exhaust, but I've owned three different kits and the @Flowmaster Exhaust 817719 cat-back system is the only one that gets the sound right. Deep growl on startup and revving but next to no extra noise in the cabin on the highway. All the others have been crazy while driving - you couldn't even talk to the passenger due to the drone.

    same shit as everyone else
I bought an MBRP stainless cat back and It's the biggest regret purchase on my truck. Got rid of the MBRP muffler and replaced it with a Magnaflow XL straight through perforated design + Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonator. I should have just gone to an exhaust shop and paid $100 for a new muffler and resonator to be welded into the stock exhaust. The allure of clicking a button and having a kit show up at your door and then do manly things on your day off is strong... but it ended up costing me way more money than I wanted to spend in the long run because I had to do things twice.

How much was the Flowmaster with the resonator? How much was the resonator and what is that?

    This and that...
I just went Jones Turbine Resonated exhaust. I too wanted to hear the engine a bit after having one in my jeep for so long. Very happy with the resonated one. Yeah you hear it from red light to red light and when on the highway it goes silent unless you're passing. Always listening to music though. A few youtube videos on it.
