Drops.. perhaps. A lot? With only one engine/tranny combo (as far as we know right now) I'm not sure the new Ranger is gonna eat into the segment as much as ppl think. A turbo I4 (gas) with auto is not everyone's cup of tea.

    No manual trans? C'mon Ford!

Not to mention that the Ranger Raptor angles are the same as the non-Pro Tacos with the air dam delete.

I have a feeling, since it looks like a global Ranger, that they are just testing the waters for the first production cycle.

Considering they were not even in the segment a few years ago, they are doing well. Not something that I would want to buy though.

True. IMO Toyota people will rarely if ever cross shop a GM product, so my guess is a lot of those people like pickups but don't want to deal with a full size domestic.

Not really sure they bash our rides but the real numbers come out nobody can beat the Tacoma . Ford will stiffen the competition but won’t go on a run like toyota has for 30 years now .

I had a 09 Silverado had three transmissions put in under 25,000 miles and truck was rattle box after I put 40 k on it .. 80 percent highway use to no off-road .. luckily I bought when big incentives were out I got 15k off so I didn’t lose much when traded it in on my 11 Tacoma

That's what they said when the GM Twins came out lol. As you can see, they are buying more! I think the Ranger will take more F150 business than Tacoma business.

I think the Ranger is going to outsell the GM twins within 3 years.

New ranger is a grandpa truck lol ugly as sin. No power train options, guaranteed no aftermarket (look at the gym twins). You’ll never see them on trails, that’s why they won’t touch tacoma’s Market share.

    OME and worth every penny.
Independent suspension is as much a nicer ride than solid axle in the rear as it is in the front.
If the trend continues towards Cadilliac riding trucks we may see it also. And it may not be a bad thing really as long as you don't mind paying for it and having two more CV's.

Ranger will be right on Tacoma’s heels first two years but toyota will adapt and dominate the category again .. will not be shocked if gm pulls out in less then three years in mid size catagory along with Honda

Unibody and Front Wheel Drive based don't do anything to help either.

I see it as a large Subaru without the high strung engine.

This. Folks said the Colorado, Canyon and Ridgeline would sink the Tacoma's sales. Instead, the Tacoma's sales have gone up.

Similar to what you mentioned, I think the Ranger will largely sell to Ford fans. I doubt it has any effect on the Tacoma's sales.

Actually, i (and obviously the OEMs) seem to think there is still a lot of room in the mid size market. Again, i really don't think Ford or Jeep's new offering is going to take Tacoma marketshare. I thunk they are getting into the mix to keep their existing brand marketshare.
