Short answer is ECT mode changes the shift points to keep the rpms in the "power" range. This is opposed to the normal "D" mode which is programmed to shift in such a way to "maximize" fuel economy keeping rpms a low as possible.

ECT = Truck mode (more aggresive)
D = Economy mode (more frequent up/down shifts based on load & demand)

Additionally "S" mode is a shift limiter, the shift maps MAY be slightly different, that allows downshifting but will not allow up shifts to pass the gear selected.

Edit: This is why it is suggested that you tow with "S" and "ECT" modes enabled.
ECT for power band to be optimized, S to avoid overdrive gears

ECT gets turned on as soon as I get in my truck and I flip over to S drive as soon as I leave my driveway. It’s pretty much habit now :)

Well, mine were supposed to have been delivered.. They got delayed in Boston. Now I'm sad. But it's raining so I couldn't have installed them anyway. (no garage.)

"The package is delayed and will not be delivered by the expected delivery date. An updated delivery date will be provided when available. Your item arrived at our USPS facility in BOSTON MA DISTRIBUTION Center"

"Blemish" circled on mine. If you pay $55 and this bothers you, you can't be satisfied.

Yes, that is the blemish I was referring to. Like I said..it's on the inside, and can only really be seen at a certain angle. If that bothers you, I suggest waiting for another batch to release(no ETA right now)

I hope you didn't take that as me complaining. For $55, I'm perfectly happy. Nobody is going to see that from more than a foot away. I was just putting it out there that these are the kinds of "blemishes" that might be found on the half price ones.

And if you have your turn signal on, they probably should be more than a foot away from you anyway! LOL
