I wonder if just taking out the charcoal filter is enough instead of getting a new intake? The oil on the K&N's mucks up your O2 sensors over time. My last tacoma needed them replaced from my K&N. they are $130

It's as complicated as it seems, if it's done correctly. Kind of nuts.

Wonder if it is worth the $300 for dealer to change all of it considering it would be $150 worth of fluid alone. And then the real question...what is your time worth?

Don't know how old you are, but I'm an old crusty bastard. I worked at a car dealership in the late 1970's, before I went in the military. That is where I learned that the BEST thing you can do to ensure that your vehicle lasts, is to do as much maintenance yourself. YOU know that it has been done right, because you care. I saw so much BS at that stealership, that it impacted me for the rest of my life. The folks here at TW are awesome in assisting the Taco community in doing things the right way.

I posted in the M/T thread with interest in this as well and got no bites... This would be huge.

@OVTune any chance of speedometer correction making its way into the "to-do" list for the tune?

    :fingerscrossed:

I heard about the turbo project and I hope that isn't a cruel April Fools joke. I would rather have the ability to adjust speedometer calibration through the tune vs. forking over the money for the Hypertech that only does one thing...

It is not a joke as he has already showed the turbos he will be using many pages ago. Speedo correction for bigger tires could be a “possibility” but it is unlikely as you are paying for a ecu/tcu tune not a speedo healer. Never know though. I have 265/70/17 and i think my mph is off by 1mph according to my gps speedometer

Isn’t that stock size? The TRD off-road comes with that size

That's not stock. OEM rubbers are 265/70/16

*edit: for the TRD OR and Pro at the least

Oh the 16” rims. I missed that. Isn’t the diameter of the tire the same tho...I mean like within .25”?

If you have a 16" wheel and a 17" wheel, and appropriate/same tires (265/70 in this case), those have a 1" difference in diameter

When you're looking at tires, the first number is width, or contact patch to ground. The second is the height, or the meat of the tire. The 3rd number is the diameter, from one inside edge of the tire to the opposite side's inside edge, or the edges where the wheel will be

The second number is the percentage of the width which equals the height of the side wall from the ground to where the rim starts with no weight on the tire. Sidewall is 70% tall of 265mm width. Right?

As for being only about 1mph off with the larger wheel/tire, that can be verified online. There are sites where you enter in your oem tire size and your new tire size and it'll tell you the amount of variance at various speeds. Actual speed vs speedometer readout. You can then decide if you can live with the difference or if you know your OCD will go nuts and you'll want to have it corrected

Idk the math on it, and I wasn't writing out a technical explanation either. Just how it was dumbed down for me to understand when I didn't know the differences. Width vs meat of the rubber vs wheel size lol
