The RMS rating is the sustained rating. it can do a quick yelp at 100w but any continued sound will be at 50w. I can explain farther if you would like. all in all always focus on RMS, thats the number that matters, same thing goes with amplifiers.

 

So I don't have the funds for a lift, so patches are not even a thought for me right now. I mean I could see myself buying some when we visit places. That being said, how are you attaching them to the celing? And how do they hold up at 75mph with the windows down and the radio up? Because I am a windows down kind of guy.

 

They are held up w/ velcro. Work great w/ the headliner material!

That makes complete sense. So would an amp make it loudernor should I just send it back and get a true 100w speaker?

 

A 50w RMS amp will provide the highest contineous decibel rating. I am not up to speed on PA speakers but I am going to assume 50w is quite loud if all you are doing is talking into it because its shaped like a mega phone. Does is state Decibel rating at 50w?


Edit: Just hook it up and see how it sounds, I mean you don't even have to mount it to just test it.

I passed my buddy today and he couldn’t hear me hardly

 

New rotors up front and took the time to wire wheel and paint the rear drums, they were in rough shape.

 

So the loudest it will ever be is 110 decibles, but that requires 50W RMS. Thats almost as loud as a fire truck going by.

I wouldn’t mind being a fire truck hahaha. Nah I wouldn’t go that loud but making it louder would be nice.

I see its 8 ohms, is your CB wired to output 8 ohms

You might make sure you are pushing 8 ohms as well, not sure what the output is on a CB. I assume the PA is a single voice coil? Were blasting the thread now so PM if you would like.

 

And, IIRC, he said the speaker is in the engine compartment.

 

I got rid of that lame pinstriping. Used my daughter’s “Twilight” edition hairdryer (I’m sure that was funny to watch), goo gone, and an assload of paper towels.
