Castrol GTX 5w-30 and a Toyota filter. If not Toyota, than a purolator or Napa filter. I've found Castrol oil is cheapest from Home Depot by a long shot, $10ish actually if compared to Autozone.

As a Californian, I wholeheartedly agree with this statement.

Tritip is good here... but our barbecue is shit compared to what y'all have over there in the South.

We do Mexican food right though.

I was going to say similar. A good carne asada with fresh tortiallas, guac, and the right sides. So tasty.

Yeah that clear coat isn't getting any better. I saw them doing a 1st gen when I was there last.

You gotta remember with Maaco it's a franchise thing. The one I got a quote from is one of the best rated ones in California. Owner was straight up and honest with me.

I already put down a deposit months ago I just haven't had time to bring it in.

I'd do it, but if I was you I'd hire a tow truck and pull of everything you can at home and mask as much as you can too, the more they can reach the more they'll spray and the better covered you'll be but they won't do any extra work removing or masking than they have to. You will get overspray in wheel wells, on door seals, windows edges, plastic trim, if you don't take it off or mask it yourself.

Oh yeah I plan on stripping as much as I can. Bumpers are coming off, wheel linings, fender flares, door trims, etc etc

Tempted to put the hitch on my 5-lug and rent a dolly to bring it down there.

You thinking of having it sprayed black again right? Black overspray is way less noticable than grey or red :/

Might have to try a Yota filter next time for the cruiser, taco gets Wix haha, the seem to work well for my short change intervals. I put 10W-30 in the cruiser but I get the Chevron stuff Costco has cause it takes 8quarts and you get 12 in a box. Valvoline works nicely in the taco though and is pretty cheap.

This is very true, I had to argue with them about the quote, I asked them to remove the window seal on the windshield and be sure to paint there, they said they would charge me extra, I didn't care cause I don't want rust in there, they did nothing of the sort and I got reimbursed. It always seems to be a lesson of if you want it done right, do it yourself, or in this case as much as you can do yourself to help the lazy bastards.

Yeah I told myself if I'm going to have it painted by Maaco I'd have it done in Black again.

One day I'll get it done properly, the owner told me the paint job luster should last about 5-6 years before fading.

If you ask them to have thick clear coat (there's a real term for that) you can cut and buff it back to life a few times and make it last even longer

I got their integrated clear coat package, once we get into base and clear coat territory it gets out of my budget unfortunately.

This was 21 year old paint, the first time it had ever been cut and buffed...
