They’re race engines, drive the shit out of them.

Toyota Supra 5.97 1/4 mile 240mph, 3.0 block all steeet legal (not CA).

Yes this engine and car was built with extra Turbos but the Supra with this stock 3.0 block engine was a production car you could buy from the dealer.

That E Kanoo racing supra is a far far stretch from what anything coming out of a Toyota factory would be lol.
I'm like 98% sure there is not an original part in that engine besides the block itself which I wouldn't doubt had new cylinder put in instead.

Not knocking the idea that Toyota can't make a great engine but a purpose built drag car supra vs something Toyota puts out is a really far comparison. You may as well say any 1.6L engine Honda makes is like an F1 engine because they make a 1.6L engine for F1.

Still heavily modified but this is a much closer comparison to what a Toyota engine could be

But yes stock Toyota Supra 2JZ GTE engine can be tuned to put out 500hp on stock parts.
    Its a bullet proof engine

Yeah I know I just like messing with everyone but they put out an insane amount of HP for a FACTORY 3.0 block albeit twin turbos and heads added.

I’m really not even a fan of adding turbos or a supercharger for the everyday driver.

My metaphorical point is Toyota stock engines are way overbuilt and can take an enormous amount of abuse.

2jz ge no turbo 2jz GTE factory twin turbo.

The gte version can handle upwards of 26psi boost. Very impressive engine

Although I feel Toyota is not the same as it was then and they are no longer built that strong . Still strong and reliable compared to others but not that same 90s legend that the supra was

Toyota got the top of the bell curve in the 1990s

My third car is a 2006 Porsche 911S, V6 360 HP NA so I’m not all about Toyota.

i used to have a 93 supra. Miss it but was bought out of the build by the guy I was building it with. regretting letting it go and giving him the title lol.

He still has it and I get to drive it every once in a while but its just scary now. I thought it was too much when we first rebuilt the blown engine and had it making around 700hp, he has it over 1100hp now and its fucking scary. can't even drive it anymore.

That’s what happens as you know when HP goes beyond handling. That’s what I love about Porsche, they are the absolute best NA cars to drive and definitely used as daily drivers.

The Supras are fun to watch on videos, but they’re money pits like most all Turbos and SC cars and trucks. Good thing you got rid of the Supra it’s not really a DD.

Sorry OP for detailing the thread

    not really...
Combined we put roughly 40k into that car and it was appraised at 65k. Probably even more now. But like any modified car they are always a bit of a money pit and you rarely turn a profit. That said I still love doing it.

Agreed on high power though. To me 500hp is the best. Its fun and enough to do some stupid stuff but not scary
