Well you should be! And that is a couple dollars a pound cheaper than around here.

Tri tip reminds me of flank/skirt steak and a brisket combined.

Did my first one a couple of weeks ago too, that is a great way to describe it. Certainly is different. I'll do it again but another skirt steak on coals is soon in my future that is meat butter! Have one in the freezer but it will be a few days yet before I grill again. Just came in from the deck, AKA grilling station.

    peeps,

Been away for almost two weeks, did a juicing cleanse / detox / whatever, will be done this Friday. I'm thinking of going into a keto diet for a couple weeks after that. Anybody have experience doing keto and smoking meats? All I can think of is that the rub has to be damn near sugar free. Anybody have any good tips or recipes?

Spog is sugar free. I just do salt and pepper on my ribs.

Worth it in the end but i complained a little... You go full juice only?

I’m not a big fan of sugar in rubs on anything but a ham. I’ve posted this before, but my “go to rub” is equal parts red, white and black pepper and garlic salt.

Looking to get a bigger weber grill for myself for my bday coming up wanting some advice.
Looking at the 22inch original but i came across the performer series which is noticeably more expensive...
    any input would be appreciated

Yep, nothing but veg and fruit juice. You throw away 85% of what you buy, insanely expensive. But, I lost a pound a day, way better energy, went the longest stretch since I was 21 of not drinking booze at all. You could do all that without juicing of course, but that's what I did.

Funny you should ask. Tomorrow is the last day of a 3 month weight loss challenge at work. I started it with 2 months of Whole30, which is similar in approach to paleo, and related to keto. You reset your system by avoiding all added sugar for 30 days. Also, no grain, legumes or dairy. I ate a lot of leaner meats, including smoked pork and chicken. I ate a ton of eggs.

I could talk about it all day, but long story short I feel much much better, my GI tract is calmer and quieter, and I'm down about 42 lbs as of this morning. I'm no longer strictly Whole30 (nor should you be, long term) but I have almost no sugar cravings anymore and I'm eating clean and still losing a pound or two a week.

Good luck with your plan. I'd focus on SPOG if I wanted to avoid sugar. Smoke still adds a lot of flavor and it's calorie-free!

I say invest in a 26" weber. More than enough room for the family and enough space when you throw a party at your house. Plus it makes a hell of a smoker.

I also have 22" and found that it was to small for what I do. Now it's my kettle pizza weber.

Thanks. I definitely can say that it worked as a reset, like you said, as far as cravings. Hard to realize how much you crave certain spices, minerals, flavors etc until you go completely without for awhile.

I hear ya. I think I would up around 27 lbs total over the stretch on juice only. Gained 5 back when it was done but with diet I settled in at post juice fast weight total. Been eating way better and have held plus or minus 2 pounds the past two months.

That right there is exactly my goal. Not to do an about face and become a monk, but to snap myself into a better routine. Thanks very much for the input, encouraging.

So far I've done one usually in January the past 3 years now. They sick but it does great at resetting yourself. It's all about the post fast mentality of not getting back to what caused the fast in the first place.
