You could leave camp and go back to Hwy 7 and go North to I-40 on Sunday to save some drive time. I usually end up 2-3 hours driving to get to the good spots. I'm excited to check out the trail (793) that runs by Cedar Creek towards Flatside Wilderness. Should be some great camping spots down there. My dog goes everywhere with me too, so he'll be along for the ride. Come on out, love to have ya! Maybe you can help me make Pete behave :D

Does this look like the spot? If so, the trail looks like a simple dirt road, no?

That's the area, and to the south is Forked Mtn along Cedar Creek. 86 is along private forestry land mainly, but the side trails go back into USFS. And yes, most of the numbered FS roads are graveled, side trails have little or no regular maintenance and are a bit more "technical" in spots. It's the "hashed" trails are either blocked or impassable at some point.

I may try to pull this off. So the plan is to meet Saturday mid-morning in Williams Junction. Would any LR area folks want to meet somewhere and caravan to Williams Junction? I will be coming from Searcy. We will enjoy the drive over, enjoy some campfire grub, and head back Sunday, right? Does anyone have the equipment to make coffee over the campfire by chance? It's a food group...just sayin'.

We're planning to travel in from Hwy 9 just South of Williams Junction to Hwy 7, go North and then head east on 86 as you have marked. Only part that won't be maintained and might be technical is 793 South from 86 by Cedar Lake. I think total loop is about 50 miles for both days.

Take Hwy 10 (Cantrell Rd.) West off 430 to the Shell Station across from the Chenal WalMart. Meet at whatever time you can make it, then 15-20 out to Willimas Junction. And yes I will have Coffee - the primary food group.

I just talked to a guy who has been to Cedar Lake and he said Forest Service has closed 793 about a mile in from Trail 86 due to UTV's driving into Flatside Wilderness. He said there are some cool caves around base of Forked Mountain, and he said lots of camping options. Map of the Cedar Lake area for reference, showing roads and possible camping spots - on this map County Road 50 ends at the Lake.

    Yeah.
Guess some people just take "It's all yours" a bit too far. Granted, some of it may not be intentional, just ignorant.

While this looks fun, I am not feeling prepared yet, ya'll have a blast! I will work on getting my stuff together. My garage is still a mess from the move -- it's tough going from a house with a big basement to only attic storage. All my camping stuff is spread out on various shelves (some that are blocked by other crap), and I need to get my Action Packers out from under a bunch of stuff as well.

Well damn, customer just reminded me it's opening of Turkey season (youth) this weekend. I have a feeling the woods and campsites might be busy this weekend. Should make things a little more interesting than usual.

Correct and edited. Woods will be crowded, but not as bad or as dangerous as camping during deer season. :infantry:

They’ve revised Sat/Sun low temps up to 34* just gotta look around for an optimistic forecast. Dry firewood, warm clothes, adult beverages...check! Who’s bringing the bacon? I got the Brats.
