Do you really think the owner of that truck gives a sh*t about the gas mileage. I think his ride looks 1000 times better than yours. If you can't post something positive ... keep it to yourself.

    Good looking truck !

Have you post pictures on this https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/1st-gen-double-cabs.371543/

Did you need frame plates welded to strength the rear before adding the extra weight?

Not a fan of lifting since hearing so nightmares of alignments and rubbing tires, relocating this and that and etc but having the cash and time ...hey why not :spending:

Define better off road. In Florida, that is the exact set up you need.
Looks great, no rock crawler, makes me think I should have kept my '04 AC OR 4X4.

Mine actually sits higher than I intended when I replaced all the suspension. Not that it's a big deal but I screwed up and order 1" taller rear, greasable shackles. Without the shell and 500 lbs of sandbags and "stuff" in the bed I'd be stink-buggin. As it is in the summer I take the 360 lbs of sand bags out and the rear sits higher. I went with the least amount of lift when I replaced my suspension and still got way more lift than I really wanted. It's not bad though. I actually like it when crawling around off road. As we all know lift helps off road.

Mine being a daily driver is why I went with minimum lift when I replaced my suspension for the reasons you state. If it's a "toy" a say go for it but if you drive it daily the hassles of a 3" lift, or more, can cost a lot of time and money working out the bugs.

Obviously I’m late to this thread, but what’s the point of this comment? Sometimes I fill my truck up from 1/4 tank twice a day, a couple days in a row, and I was on 31’s up until 2 weeks ago.

I know that’s pointless info, but so’s you’re comment so I guess they go together.

I think this when I see any Jeep out there (especially jku’s) but with how my truck looks I guarantee people think the same about me or probably yours. I mean, mines got pinstripes ALL over the damn thing from trails and little bits of minor damage mostly from misjudged ruts.

But every time I go to Walmart I know people are thinking I’m a douche haha I’m guilty as hell as well.

Those on this forum who complain about Tacoma first gen. gas mileage should be forced to drive and pay for gas a Land Rover Discovery or Discovery II series for one month. Mouths would be eternally shut! Jewel (my 2002 Tacoma MT 4WD) . does 22 mpg., Priscilla, my 2001 Land Rover Discovery II series gets by with a mere 11 mpg LOL plus a quart of oil every 2500 miles.
My wife laughs while telling her girlfriends that Priscilla is a 4 liter, meaning it needs 4 liters at every start.
I like driving them both, Priscilla is preferred when driving off road and inner city... because of the ACE = Active Corner Enhancement which is truly priceless. I do admit that on both vehicles together I do not accumulate more then 6000 miles per year.

    hahahahaha hahahahahhaha hhhaahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahah

the reason is simple, the Land Rover needs constant care, and when I say constant I mean D A I L Y and costs a fortune in spare parts .... same as P. Presley.....
The Tacoma is called Jewel because the only reason I own it is to transport all the stuff my wife needs to set up a booth with her handmade jewelry at fairs and markets... such as 10x10 canopy, tables, merchandise etc....
