I was looking at these on the website the other day.. but I had no idea which one's fit our trucks.. the oval vs the round. Is it the oval ones that are better? Probably wouldn't matter a whole lot on my truck, since I don't have the blacked out headlight mod on mine, and I don't have the skills necessary to rip mine apart myself (and it's my daily driver.. working nights, i can't drive without headlights if I screwed up.)

It's the round ones just like our factory fogs are round. You don't have to take anything apart to install them...just unscrew 2 screws in each wheel well and then pull the wheel well liner back so that you can reach an arm into the bumper. Unscrew 1 screw for each fog light, undo the wiring harness, and then reverse it all as you put it back together. Took me less than 30 minutes to do it all (to include adjusting them so that they were angled up a little more). Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaar easier than blacking out the headlights. lol

ahh Thanks. see I figured it might be the round ones, as ours are round.. but the one I quoted was the oval ones, and a few people said they had gotten those too. So I got confused. I didn't know oval vs round. Then again.. I didn't even notice the "Buyers guide" on the morimoto web page that lets me enter in my truck year and type. haha. oops. It's definitely the ovals using that. That's what I get for looking at stuff feeling brain dead after work.

    Nice.

    I've enjoyed them.

I want to do the door speakers next but not looking forward to the install.

    Very, very nice !

    Great choice.

Did you clean the spot? Sometimes you can get small pieces of metal kicked up onto the truck by the road, especially in the tailgate area. I would clean it and monitor it to see if it was a surface problem or not. Then take pictures, especially if it comes back.

The door speakers are very easy to install. All four doors took me about 40 minutes. The covers come off very easily, and it's very easy to reattach the connections. I think you'll be surprised at just how easy it will be.

I don't miss those Alaskan winters. Like you said, another three or so weeks and "break-up" begins.

    Thanks, Doc.

I may reach out to you when I get around to doing it.

Which door speakers did you go with ?

    I'm assuming the Kickers ?

    Better bass response afterwards ?

I went with Kicker KS's in mine and, yes, REALLY improved bass response. I was chomping at the bit before that to throw in the JL sub with an amp, and I probably still will, but now I find myself in no big hurry to do so.

I went with Kicker 43CSC674 and 43CSC6934. The bass and clarity are improved over factory. I could gain more with an amp and small sub, and will add those elements later. It won't win any competitions nor will it rattle the car next to you, but if you just want to add more than what comes from the factory without busting your budget, it's a good alternative.

I just put in my vehicle and it showed these. Round are for 2nd gen. I believe they are just slightly oval. Not really noticable...:notsure:

If you have a 3rd gen you want the oval shape. Go to the Retrofit Source website and put in your model and it will point you to oval.

I hear ya. Even going slow and following all the proper steps, I still lost a tab/clip on one of the covers doing the dash installs. It's just the way things go for me when I DIY, but I've learned to accept those things just happen and keep moving on. I may do the doors and rears in time as I have some NIB Alpines that will fit that have been sitting in my closet for about 6 years.

Good luck with your doors brother!
