3rd gen SPOD setups?

I was thinking of going this route... I really love the sPOD with LCD but it's so expensive. Can't bite that bullet right now.

Not a big fan of the rocker switches..

Got my STECH kit in. Very good quality stuff. My kit was missing the switch labels. I emailed them and the customer support has been excellent!! I am planning to install this week, and will update you all with pictures. So far, very happy with the product and support

 

sPOD has a new unit out called the Bantam. Much smaller than the SE and lots of new features. Just ordered so I can begin the accessory madness. Excited!

You are correct, it is not on the website yet. I just happened to email them asking some questions about the SE and John sent me a bunch of info on it. Sounds like the sPOD guys were out at a show where they unveiled but they are limited on supply so once they get some traction there I assume they will post it on their site. It's half the size of the SE with all the same functionality plus some. It also includes the Bluetooth functionality out of the box so no need to buy the additional connector. Should make things like using the dome light as a signal wire super easy let alone keeping the wiring at a minimum. Cheaper products out there but when its the heart of all your accessories you get what you pay for with the sPOD products.

 

Ya man I was looking into it before I bought my SE HD (which has built in Bluetooth). My understanding is now you can program things to work when you activate a function on the truck, like the flashers? If you don't mind, how much did it set you back?

 

It's $845 so a little more than the SE but if you figure in the additional bluetooth piece is works out to be less for the single unit. I was going to by a power tray to mount the SE but with the Bantam being so much smaller I can mount right on top of the fuse box so I can cut that out as well. Good deal in my opinion for what you get.

Finally got my new sPOD Bantam and a ARB OBA Compressor (

$350 CKMA12 On-Board Air Compressor High Performance 12 Volt for Air Locker Differentials and Tire Inflation

CKMA12) installed. Mounted both to a PowerTrays panel.

Used a blank PowerTray because I wasn’t sure about exact placement of the new Bantam model sPOD and compressor. Tooled around for a while placing the compressor to check for hood clearance but I really like where everything ended up.

Holes drilled. Got a little travel on a few holes then went to the Depot and bought a better bit for this and it made a huge difference.

Mounted the touch screen in the left hand, lower dash empty cubby using a RAM Ball mount.

Just barely fits with the quick disconnect pointed directly up. It sits perfectly in one of the tallest spots under the hood. Solid connections all sealed up in heat shrink. I’m personally really happy with the placement of everything and thought it was a clean install but let me know what you think.

Yes? It makes wiring lights a breeze and you can program the lights to do cool things like strobe!
The bantam has some additional features which I'm not 100% familiar with...

 

I added mine a few weeks ago and love it. The phone app works ok. Its nice to be able to turn on my arb twin thats in the bed from my phone. It adds a few fun features as well you can make your lights strobe or just blink link switches together. I have my ditch lights wired so I can turn on left or right and the switches linked. So they will come on together or I can turn them on one at a time.

 

Hey that's a clean mount! How'd you do that?

 

Just dropped the overhead panel out. Placed the template in the area i wanted the panel to go. I then used an exacto knife to cut a + in the head liner. I didn't want the drill to twist around the fabric so i made small slices first. Then small pilot hole then stepped it up a little bigger then did the final hole. The middle hole for the RJ'45 connector is a 3/4. So we drilled a pilot and stepped up the bit sizes until it fit. I used the supplied mounting bracket that came with the sPOD to sandwich it on the back side after cutting it down to fit. I think it came out pretty good.
