You and I already talked a while back, and I'll miss you by a few hours. What a bummer.

Unfortunately My Tacoma was totaled last year, and now I’m back in an F150, but keep your eyes peeled for the purple people eater with fresh 2.4 Maxxis Ardents.

I’ll be on the road super early the 22nd unfortunately. Long drive to and from Austin with the teardrop camper.

Do any of you guys and gals live and/or ride in the Lake Tahoe area? I'm going to be at Zephyr Cove, NV for 5 days in July with my bike. I'm looking for any and all suggestions for riding anywhere in the Lake Tahoe area:

My preference: 10-20 mile rides with intermediate/expert/advanced terrain (DH & CC); loops are a plus; some nice scenery/Lake views would be nice, too.

I'm planning for at least one day at Northstar. I've read about some popular trails like: Mr. Toad's, Saxon Creek, Armstrong, Corral, Rim Trail, South Yuba Trail, etc. What I don't know about these is (1) the preferred riding direction, (2) the best way to connect the trails (if possible) into a loop & (3) if these trails are worth my time.

Once again, any info is appreciated. Thanks!

I don't live there but I spent some time there years ago. My experience is you really cant go wrong the trails are amazing. I spent most of my time riding in the Squa Valley area. But I've heard there are some great trails on the south side of the lake now. This probably isn't helping much... But I know you will have a good time.

I've heard some good things about this Corral trail, and this is some video of it, looks pretty good.

Armstrong and Corral are awesome. Makes a good loop. South Yuba isn’t really Tahoe, but a day trip from Tahoe to Downieville is easy and recommended if you have time. In D’ville, use the shuttle and ride the downhill (which is really gravity-aided CC). Snow has been light this year so unless something weird happens, all trails will be open and cleaned up from any winter damage.

    Yo guys.

So like I said I have a trip to Moab April 18-22. I’ll be alone riding on the 19, with 2 friends coming in that afternoon.

Now, on the 19th I really want to acclimate and get some confidence for Friday and Saturday with my friends that I know are going to push me. They’re really experienced in Moab so I’m in good hands with them, just looking for something solid on the solo day.

Any recommendations? Deadhorse Point? Moab brands? I’ve been on the bike 10 or so times all of this year averaging 10-12 mike rides in and around Austin Texas. Work has picked up and I’m living many days out of a hotel right now away from the bike. So I expect to be in pretty poor biking shape, especially at that altitude.

    Thanks for any info!

Moab is only at 4k' You'll be fine.

Klondike Bluffs is a good warmup trail system I thought.

Navajo Rocks is a great new intermediate trail system.

I've come to the following conclusions:

Either for riding fatbikes on the beach which would be miserably sandy (or to the hot springs like here in UT)

    or

You put clipless pedals on your beach cruiser and are a complete and utter tool.

lol, you guys, these are great! You're just not thinking about it in the right context...

These are great for someone like me who commutes on a bike that uses clips like these. And being in HI, sandles (aka, slippers here) are worn year round. I could see this being useful for suburb and city commuters in other warm climates like So Cal and Florida too.

They'd also be great for running errands around town in the summer

I'm all for cruisin around on my townie bike in flats and chacos, but dedicated SPD sandals? Just seems...I don't even know.
