Yea, mine’s a 2018 4runner... glad to know this is a SW thing. USB for now! Just out of curiosity, anyone else using an Apple Watch at the same time? As stated, I couldn’t duplicate the problem when watch not also connected.

My 17 Tacoma also reboots randomly but more often my bluetooth audio keeps cutting in and out. When I disconnect the bluetooth from the phone the audio is fine. I have a Samsung S8. I will try the steps listed in this post to see if it works and report back.

My '17 Taco JBL Entune system reboots. I thought it was my toyota but lately I've been having the same issues on my Tesla Model 3. I will randomly lose the audio on an incoming or outgoing call. If I reboot the tesla, it fixes the problem but so does rebooting my iPhone 7.

Looks like the issue is with iOS 11.2... looks like iOS 11.3 to be released sometime this spring. Fingers crossed.

I've been driving my '18 around for about a month now and I have not had a single instance where the head unit has rebooted. Fingers crossed that it keeps happening that way.

Just to add to the anecdotal evidence, I used to have a Nexus 6P that would be hit or miss on being connected when I started up the truck and would see head unit reboots about once every three months. I now have a Note 8 and it connects 100% of the time and I have yet to see a head unit reboot.

Mine has reset without my phone even plugged in. Don’t usually have any issues other than the screen bricking every once in a while. iPhone X.

I'm having this same issue in my 2014 TRD Sport navigation head unit. IPhone 7 connected with blue tooth, but usually listening to Sirius satellite radio when it happens, Waze running on my iPhone. No USB connection active to the radio. Head unit will just reboot itself and resume back where it was, playing the same station it was on.

iOS 11.3 appears to have (tentatively) fixed this problem for me

Mine has also worked thus far with iOS 11.3 :fingerscrossed:

Tons of issues ever since iOS 11 was released. Hoping this finally takes care of it. I have also noticed some things are much more responsive than they were previously - like changing songs.

Spoke too soon! Still borked if I try to activate Voice-to-text within text messages. (So, you know, that thing I would otherwise use every time I’m driving)

That’s sucks! I’ll try mine out this week and report back. May have to replace the whole head unit but haven’t found any bezels or surrounding pieces I like to fit around a new Kenwood head unit...

I don’t ever use that. Mine blows up making or receiving phone calls.

Yeah, kind of hard to find any bezels that are like the factory head unit touch screen controls...

I had this issue when I first got my 2016, radio was replaced 1 month after purchase and not one reboot since.
The dealer did give me a hard time at 1st..
They tried to tell me it was because I was connected to an android. I came back with, it does it with my wife's iphone, and with no phone connected. Just recorded video throughout one drive and it happened 3 times, with no phone connected.

Seems like the new Ios update fixed the problem for some people, but if you're still having the problem you can still pair your iPhone and use the bluetooth connection for music and placing calls. When I had this problem I only paired the device for music and did not sync my contacts; I also did not allow notifications from the bluetooth settings on your iphone. This allowed me to use handsfree calling and play music, but I could not use siri or get text notifications. It at least stopped the random restarts though. Hope this helps some of you out.

Got a replacement radio, still having this issue. Anyone ever find a fix? Looking like I may have to lemon law the truck. Don’t want to take a bath on resale value because of head-unit gremlins

Mine still reboots despite iOS upgrades and head unit software upgrades. It’s a Bluetooth conflict with the Apple phones. I think it’s a software issue with Toyota. Don’t think they care too much, so looking into potential aftermarket systems to fix this and add more functionality (Apple car play). Just hate to get rid of the head unit bc I’m okay with it and it’s hard to find a good 7-9” replacement. Found a couple, but not any that are exact fit or matches...

This is still going on for me 100%. Driving me nuts! My dealer told me its because of contacts with special characters in the details. Suggested removing those. Sorry dude I'm not going through 700 contacts to remove some random characters.

    Scenarios this happens
    • Voice to text in messages/apps if I select it, it immediately crashes and reboots entune
    • Occasionally when answering calls, when other audio is already playing through the system aka (Spotify, Youtube music, etc.

Yeah, mine is still restarting when I have the phone connected via Bluetooth. Usually for me it is when I have nav up, music playing and a call comes in. I am seriously considering upgrading to an aftermarket head unit once I get the money. No fix in sight from Toyota that I know of.
