Just as some practical feedback the system would be most useful if switchable between red and white. The LED strip lighting with mixed white and tri-color is about the same cost as just white. With the white light the thing becomes an bug magnet of incredible proportions. This becomes a big problem when in camp working between the inside and outside (e.g. if you have an outdoor kitchen) or when you need to exit for biological reasons in the night. Open up a door with the white light on and a wall of bugs comes in. Worse these tent-on-top-of-bed designs are also a perfect bug trap, they fly in from the bottom and then fly up to the top with no way out. Your setup at least has the rear panel that can open completely to shoo them out!

The solution is to switch to red light when a door is open. Insects do not see red light at all and are thus not attracted to it. Give it a try in a buggy area sometime. White, blue or green light results in a swarm of insects. Red is completely ignored. For this reason I set up the lights in my Flip-Pac to be switchable between red and white. When everything is buttoned up and we want natural looking light we switch to white. All the screen panels become covered in bugs fairly quickly. When someone needs to go out the back or I'm cooking on the tailgate with the back door open we run red. No bugs come in.

Awesome design by the way! Glad to see something so high quality entering the market.

probably means that the long/larger beds of full size trucks don't require a cab overhang, so they make the shell portion lower and keep the whole assembly at or below roof height. that's what I did with my RTT.

Going to be cutting it close. I'm 18, haven't heard yet on option selection, selling my topper this weekend, and leaving for a trip May 4th.

I second this if possible! Red lights at night preserve your night vision as well.

Yeah dude I’m #19 in the build que and need to pick up last week of April. Haven’t heard from the boys yet. Guessing they’re working their asses off currently. I think they’ll move quick once they get our build info and start production.

Anybody order the roof vent or fairing? Curious how long we might have to wait to see those features. Fairing is relatively obvious, but I'm interested in seeing the integration of the roof vent and how it's "weatherproofed".

@gfc or @inv3ctiv3 Any more drool worthy photos to help us get through the week?

Don't know how GFC will handle it, but it's definitely possible. The fan in my (now sold) James Baroud Explorer RTT was 100% waterproof. I even pressure washed it. Le Magic.

I'm torn with a black truck what colors to get the GFC. Aesthetically, black makes sense, BUT when looking at how much brighter the interior looks when closed up, I'm tempted to get a White GFC and "wrap" the outside panels to match truck color.

I thought about that too, but with all the extra brackets on the inner side of the panels, it would be just easier to do the exterior and cut the wrap around the latches. Thought about using plasti-dip too, but again, think a wrap on a flat surface (not including angled edges) would be easier.

You can't leave us with just that. My gawd, Man!

    Was it everything you expected?

Did you get some killer Zzzs?

    Dust?

It looked like access was excellent through the panels. Do you agree?

What one thing would you like to be different (you're in the 3rd Gen section after all)?

Optional: Was the Transform-a-Floor properly christened?

    It's DLX son!
I'd like to know if you tried leaving your sleeping bag and pillow out with the TAF in bunk mode and were able to close the tent?

Notice any wind noise from the topper vs. the naked bed?

How fast did you drive/how hard did you wheel with the tent deployed? I know you crossed a river before with your flippac open.

2nd the question regarding vigorous action on the TAF and if held up?

Thanks for the answers. I like it!

Great tip on sealing the bed rails. I will do that. A tailgate seal has been on my list for a while.

That doesn't mean that you didn't christen, just that peeps should be careful what that touch up there now.
