Anyone own two male dogs?

Looking to pick up a cane corso puppy. I have a pitbull neutered about to turn 5 and a female lab mutt neutwred as well but she's older around 10

Wondering if any of you guys have two male dogs in your house hold? And if they fight or not?

Read that some fight when maturing also read that some get along just fine

Suggestions: get your new dog his own stuff.. bed, bowl & crate to be specific.

My labs loved each other...

My shepherd & pit/boxer mix... not so much.

Shepherds are hearders and the pit/boxer needs his own space.

When you brought the pit and shepherd together were they different in age?

 

They are weeks apart in age.. both rescues and rescues are difficult!

 

The crazy part is I have mulitple beds around my house and my pit (male) just wants to be snuggled up.beside wherever my female lab is. They get along fine

 

I have dislocated a shoulder, pulled my groin and had neighbors ask WTF is happening at my house breaking up dog frights!

 

I had 2 male GSPs at the same time for a few years. The older one was 6 when I got the puppy. Neither were neutered and they never fought and were best buddies.

Gotta establish the rules early.

 

Yeah I think the age will be fine because he has no other choice but to respect the elders in the house

That being said I have two females and have zero issues, but one is submissive while the other is dominant.

 

Yeah that's what I read. I have the opposite now haha I know my older lab has been around a female majority of her younger life for a few years so she won't care if it's a female or male. It's the Pitt I'm worried about

 

Depends on the personalities.

I’ve got a male Boxer and we often dog sit my sister-in-laws Red Heeler when they go out of town. They pretty much ignore each other.

My wife’s friend also drops her Lab off with us pretty regularly and we have to put them in time out because they don’t stop rough housing.

Over New Year’s Eve we had our Boxer, my sister in law’s heeler, a coworkers Great Dane, and the Lab. The Dane and the heeler ignored each other while the other two tried to destroy the hard wood floors.

 

He's good around other dogs that are males and such. Just don't know what happens when the cane corso matures and IF or when he tried to take head of the household/pack

 

So if neither of my dogs are dominant and/or aggressive I should be good? That's pretty much what I took from that haha
