I finally had enough and called Icon yesterday. After speaking with someone in technical support they confirmed that after 200 miles the uniball should be broken in and after seeing the video I posted they said they had a defective batch come through about a year ago. To smooth things over they gave me a healthy discount on a set of Delta Joints with installation tool so as soon as everything comes in I will be doing the install to get rid of these uniballs.

Wow that’s awesome! The guy at the shop I got my kit installed said that most people who don’t like the squeak upgrade to delta joints.

If they are squeeking like mine in the video then they are defective. My drivers side is quiet and the passenger side squeeks, both sides are getting replaced and I have over 500 miles on them now.

Did you see if lubing up your bushings helped?

Wondering if you just got bushings that’s defective and may be not exact size bc it shouldn’t squeak like that off the bat and the movement you make doesn’t seem like the uniball is moving too much so can’t imagine the sound coming from there. Sounds more like rubber rubbing metal to me.

Interesting. Yeah the shop I got it done at does a lot of king and total chaos installs. They told me that it’ll get quiter as it breaks in. I don’t know if that sounds right though.

I would hit up Total Chaos and ask them. Or what you can do is loosen your UCA bolt a little and then make the same movement to see if the noise is still there or if it improves. Maybe it’s over tightened? Which would cause the bushings to bulge more?? Try it out and make sure your torque it to factory specs aftermarket.

Also when you lube it up in the zerk fitting, make sure you have the UCA bolt loosened. Here’s a link to their vid.

That’s why I opted out to get heim joints and avoid bushings. Less maintenance and no need to lubricate but they cost a little more. Good luck guys on getting the noise resolved, hopefully it’s a simple fix.

I emailed total chaos and they said that it sounds like they need grease. So I’m going to a different shop To have them check it.

Just make sure to remind them that the bolt needs to be loosened before putting grease in it like in the video I posted. Good luck brotha!

Might be worth it to invest in a zerk gun in the future so you maintain the greasing and avoid the noise.

Yep I’m looking into that now! I just ordered the ballpoint lube, next getting the zerk gun and lube that total chaos recommends!
