It's your job to ensure that doesn't happen.

    Sounds like my situation.

My German Sheperherd grew up with a Border Collie / Australian Shepherd and a Rottweiler. The German Shepherd and the Border Collie would spend hours grabbing each other by the neck, chewing on each other’s legs no problem.

Got a wife and her Pit Bull mix goes from 0 to I’m going to kill that German Shepherd in the blink of an eye when he’s bugging him and being mouthy. Now they stay separated all the time. :( I wish they got along but that won’t happen.

Yeah I'm hoping that won't be a problem. Was the pitbull mostly not friendly to other dogs?

As long as you don’t end up with two dominant males you should be ok, but it is your job to ensure everything goes smooth. Are you getting him from a breeder?

My cattle dog is aggressive with other dogs, but fell in love with my GSD after about a day. Best friends ever since

My wife rescued the pit as a juvenile about 6-8 months old so don’t know his previous history. He gets along with my wife’s other female pit (who is like 15 years old) and my Shepherd gets along with the female pit (or at least she tolerates him being the shepherd that he is) but the two males together is no bueno.

Make sure you do a slow integration and give your older dog the space he needs

I suggest watching Larry krohns videos on YouTube About structure. Structure means everything to a puppy and they need strong structure.

My Shepherd was about 1.5-2 years old when my wife got her male pit.

Yeah well he's not like that. My older female dog (lab 10 years old) she's the one that needs space because shes not a fan of new puppies until thwy learn manners. I read that older dogs often stsy away from puppies cause they dont know much.

but as of my male pitbull, he still acts like a puppy and loves to play and mess with other dogs.

But with all the great advice I think I should be good

I have a 5 year old rescue lab and can be extremely aggressive sometimes around other dogs near me. The nasty snarl “I’ll end your fucking life if you come near my dad” type but my wife got a puppy mini Aussie recently and he’s now about 4-5 months old and we haven’t had any problems with any fighting even the day we got him. we had no issues except my lab peed in the house a couple times to either show dominance or try to get attention the vet can’t decide which. We were afraid we’d have to separate and try to adjust them to each other. But all good even feed them at the same time.

That's good to hear! The lab was definitely marking territory haha I assume that Aussie respects him as the alpha.

Picking up this pup Sunday then!

All the cuddle pics makes it nice to know I'll be alright. I know I gotta keep a close watch on them first few weeks! Thanks for the advice and experiences
