I'll be waiting to hear the outcome of this. If it does indeed work then it'll be worth getting cause the Hypertech is too expensive for me to justify

I know this post is old, somehow I landed on that page. I hope no one heeded or took this as good advice.

    Well, got them delivered!
But can anyone confirm this part number is correct for an AT w/o an elocker??

Nitros website lists it for use on 1st gens with e locker (I THINK that’s why the sticker says what it says), but does not list the 3rd gen Tacoma.

Picked up my truck from the gear shop for the 2nd time. Finally no noise in the front.
Ended up being a crushed pinion bearing. I provided them a brand new master kit, so I'm thinking it happened during install. Regardless..truck drives smooth and quiet so I'm happy. Just went though the first tank with gears. Before, I was averaging 210 miles/tank. This time I got 260miles(and I haven't been easy on it). So overall my MPG and drive-ability are AWESOME.

Anybody do this on a 3rd gen? I'm asking because did you replace the differential Carrier bearing? If you bought the master pack did you have to buy any additional bearings or seals?

the title says installed 4.88s on my 2016 Tacoma and it's in the 3rd gen section so I'm thinking everyone in here did it on a 3rd gen. Lol
No, I didn't replace the carrier bearing and no, I didn't have to buy any additional bearings or seals but it's highly advised to replace the front drivers bearing with the ECGS bushing. Not mandatory but it makes total sense to do it since it's all apart anyway

I'm right with you there - total of almost 3 weeks downtime. After getting the truck back the first time I heard a slight intermittent clunking and could barley feel it in the pedals. Took it back to the shop and they took it apart, reexamined and put it back together - they couldn't find anything wrong. Got it back and it's smooth so far. Fingers crossed...

I never saw what was causing the noise on decel. What did the shop come up with that was causing it?
