Picking up my 2018 DCLB TRD OR tomorrow(that's so many letters). Just curious what you guys think of the warranty options with Toyota. I haven't even discussed these with my dealer yet. Is there a Toyota-offered warranty I should know about? Anything I should stay away from? Or, did you even bother with a warranty? I don't put too many miles on a vehicle, so any warranty would last me, probably, close to the number of years as opposed to mileage. Thanks in advance.

Everyone has differing opinions on Extended Warranties. If you decide on 1 make sure it is thru Toyota and not some 3rd Party deal.

From Toyota I got the 8 year 100,000 mile warranty. The standard is 3 year 36,000.

I am not sure exactly on the final price. I worked it into my monthly. I pay 25 dollars on top of the loan. Roughly 1800 for the warranty. Worth the price for price of mind

I decided to buy one because of all the electronics and Sunroof, went with the 8 Year, 125k, 0 deductible, they were asking over $2000 but I got it down around $1500 or so.

I was offered a 100K 7 year warranty with a bunch of bells and whistles for $4000. I fought and fought and fought with the finance guy. Finally got a 100K 7 year bumper to bumper warranty for $2000. I just kept saying "no, not interested" through his entire sales pitch until he gave me something I wanted.

I like extended warranties. My 2011 has the u-joints go bad at 60K and didn't cost me a dime.

I’d rather have the extended warranty and not need it then not having it and needing it.

And as you found out the extended warranty is highly negotiable.

Not sure if it’s the same with Toyota but with Chrysler you have till the factory warranty is up to decide. The was a Chrysler dealer out there selling the Chrysler warranty quite a bit cheaper then most dealers so guys would buy their car and buy the extended warranty though the other dealer. An official Chrysler warranty.

the price on an extended warranty is negotiable. And you dont have to buy it from the dealer you purchase the car from. If you get one, get the one sold by Toyota thru Toyota financial services, not a 3rd party one

Thank you! The mopar max care or whatever is one of the reasons I almost bought a jeep. I'm sure the warranty is restrictive for modifications and whatnot but I'll restrict to an AAL to support the camper shell and whatever size tires I can fit. Thank you for the intel.

I got the 7 year 200,000 km platinum warranty with mine. It was about $4,500 extra (Canadian) but the peace of mind is worth it. Plus if i rotate into a new one in 7-8 years that will definitely help keep the value up.

That is a fantastic deal. I think dealer cost for that warranty is right around $1,000.

Don't ever pay the quoted price. They offered the 7/100,000 warranty to me for $4000. I countered with $1000 and ended up getting it for $1200.

I got a 7/100000 platinum for free, after owning the truck for 18 months. I did have to endure 3 safety recalls, 4 TSBs, a leaking third break light, and delivered with low fluid levels. I fortunately got a sympathetic customer care agent at Toyota Corp. and being a loyal Toyota truck owner. Toyota keeps good records on its customers, they knew every truck I purchased in the last 20 years.

I didn’t get an extended warranty when I purchased the truck. But should have.
Even with the issues I had I still love the truck and plan on keeping it for at least 7 years.

Like others have said extended warranty’s are negotiable just like the price of the truck. I know I am not the only person who had issues with their truck to negotiate a free 7/100k so if their giving them away, $1000 seems like a fair price.
