    It’s a shame really, although the auto I drove wasn’t that bad with the ECT button clicked. My 3.4 still somehow feels like it has quicker low-end response than the 3.5 and I thinks it’s because I have a mechanical throttle.


    I’ll have to drive one again when I’m ready to buy. I still think my heart is set on keeping the 96 and getting a manual Mustang though.

    True but that’s all modern engines compared to those in the 90s. My dad’s Hemi makes 200 more hp than my truck and still gets better MPG. The 3.5 is a beast in the IS350 and pulls hard. In a truck it just has to be revved higher so it doesn’t feel normal.

    I would disagree. There’s 4.0s in the 500k club. I don’t think anything other than the 3.0 has had significant issues in Toyota trucks. Even the 3.0 has been known to run for quite a while

    It made its torque at like 3300rpm. I’d rather have low rpm torque than high rpm torque. Makes it much more usable in a truck. I miss driving my old V6 Prerunner. Even with the supercharger, the 2.7 just can’t compete with where the 3.4 made torque.
