    Hey guys,
First time posting here, usually just lurking but i couldnt find the info i need.
I saw a lot of answers to this about 1st gens but nada on 2nd gens.
I am trying to hook up my trailer lights on my boat, The harness on the truck side is wrecked, it didn't have a separated pin plug IE: 4pin 7pin. All it had was individual connectors on each wire, metal ones. My question is if these metal connectors are just bouncing around wouldn't they blow a fuse touching each other? If so then where is this fuse for trailer lights?
Trailer lights worked fine on another truck, All the lights on the truck work but when i crimp the wires together nothing happens.

Is the trailer grounded to your truck when testing wires? I.E trailer hooked up to hitch?

It was not hitched but I thought the white wire was ground. So I hooked the white on both together. Then I started touching all the others together randomly while the truck lights were on but nothing. Not even a flicker from any of them.

Use a tester on the wires. If there is no juice there you know its a truck problem and start working backwards.

Id definitely get a new plug for it though instead of loose wires.

Gonna try that tomorrow with my multimeter.
I got a new plug but I can't tell what does what on the truck so I don't wanna get it all wired and heat shrunk then find out something's backwards ya know?

If your plug is all ripped apart, there is a very large chance that your wires are damaged as well.
Was this a OEM light plug, or was it a aftermarket?

Use the schematic and a test light to see what works and what doesn't. Also, just for info, there is a convertor box that converts the separate brake and turn signals on the truck to common brake and turn signals on the trailer. They sometimes go bad.

The brake wire in the trailer connector will only have power if you have a trailer brake controller.

I got a new plug just trying to figure out which wire does what. I got the tail lights to stay on but brake/ turns wont do anything.
Should the voltage with a blinker on be 0,12,0,12 mine only go up to maybe 1.5 then down to 0.
Could it be it's just not enough voltage to make the light blink?
