Pre-Jambo Shakedown, BMRA, 07-08 April

What is your preference? IPA - American, Blonde Ale, IPA- Imperial/Double, Red Ale -American Amber/Red?

 

If you get him some true vine beers stay away from rose city and mermaids and unicorns. The rest are pretty good.

 

My "spare" set of upper ball joints are my old ones with over 50K miles and they chill in the garage. I'll bring one for you just in case but these guys are right you should be fine till the new ones come in.

 

Whichever IPA is @trekker approved.

 

The IPAs are going to be the Rose City IPA (5.5%) and the Daddy's Juice Box (8.5%).

If I get a 6er of DJB... I am going to have to steal one.

I thought the rose city was their pale ale made with rose hips and melted plastic?

When it first came out... the rose city was actually pretty good. But I swear they had another one that I liked a lot as I am not an IPA person.

It was a blonde ale, but it was not Mermaids as that is trash honestly.

A mermaids is the last thing you want to drink after finishing a 5k at 8:30 in the morning.

I guess I will get a 6er of DJB?

 

I was really excited to have a brewery out there when I lived in Lindale... until I tried their beer and was let down a good bit.

Luckily ETX Brewing came along to save the day, and in response True Vine has stepped their game up with some great stuff. Everybody wins with quality competition.

 

Same, I think ETX is superior.

Now that they have both expanded a ton and both have food at their locations. It will just get better.

I like ETX because of where they are, close to downtown, something always going on. Now that they have the food place running. It is just way better.

That and I think the beer is better, but it isn't canned...

 

Before I moved the guys that run ETX, Brian and Matt, were talking about breaking into canning after expansion. They want to do 16oz cans only so every beer you buy is a true pint.

Oh that would be legit.

They bought the space beside them and turned it into a restaurant with what looks like some good bar food. I have yet to be able to go eat there as was waiting for the hype to die down a little bit.

But it all looks damn good from what people are posting and saying about it.

Not sure where they would be able to do canning there though...

 

I miss their beer. Their skull blossom (NE style) is still one of my all-time favorites... may have to see if they've made some this spring and fill up a growler on the way up to Gilmer.

 

I wonder if they would fill a growler at all?

 

Oh man. I need to fill mine and bring it.

Does Specs/Total Wine do growler fills?

oh yeah I forgot... Smith County suck for beer regulations and that's a no-go

the owner of the Central Station Brick and Brew in Gladewater (right down the road from Gilmer, actually that's near our hotel) loves ETX beers and usually keeps all of them on tap and will fill growlers. I'll probably just stop there instead and see what's available.

 

I might ask you to fill mine Saturday night, and take it back to Fort Worth with me.

Yea it does. Fresh (like world market, but Brookshires) just recently started to allow on premise alcohol buying and drinking, so you can no buy a craft beer from the build a 6 pack area and walk around and drink it while shopping...

Other than that... Smith County sucks for beer people honestly. I am amazed they allow ETX brewing to have people outside drinking and not inside of some form of fence or patio.

 

I have a growler, but it is from a Brewery in Little Rock... wonder if it matters?
