I'm far more interested in a locked light. If it's not locking it's probably because I didn't throw the anytime switch. An ARB style rocker is my thought. One to engage mod, and the one to engage locker. They make a switch panel to fill the cubby by the power inverter power. Now that I said that, the inverter switch pushed once shows on, then switches to 400 on. That'd be slick. 100W is mod engage, and 400W is locked.

That would be ideal (switch with two good illuminations). I have to think there is an elegant solution for illumination and switching out there, just havent found it yet....

If you find yourself in LA and want to cut some wires let me know. Just installed my switchpro so would likely try to use that.

Just realized my locker switch is on headliner. Is that where they all are? I dont think there is really any risk of accidentally hitting it?

I'd do a ch4x4 switch most likely. Just illumination to let me know it's activated is all I'd be looking for as well

I don't have a dog in the fight. But like many of us, a solution would be bad ass to see. How about an air actuated relay? Would it be possible to have an air pump that upon activating will make the rear diff lock? Or take a peak through their inventory. They have a lot of trick stuff.

Perhaps two of these? One for mod on and one for locker on? Screenshot_20180323-163036.jpg

    Haven't worked on it.
    (My recommendation)
Somebody would have to build the circuit, and test it on the rear diff lock as a bench test as the next step.

You've clearly put a lot of work into this already. Not sure if it is still an active project but I suspect the two connectors you would need are 90980-12557 & 90980-10997.

Not an active project, got called in to report to a new job several months earlier than expected.

The ones you showed are correct I think, but those are the truck side connectors that interface with the ECU only, I believe. I would assume to make a plug-and-play solution we would need male and females of those, so we can put them in line. We would need the two connectors you mentioned, and the two connectors that mate with them. The mating 40 pin connector doesn't seem to be in my 90980 connector catalog. (The mating 40 pin connector may be only be available as a card thru-hole solder connector.) That still doesn't make it impossible, but just harder having any luck finding that 40 pin mate.

Sorry, I can't seem to articulate very effectively today, Make sense?

Yep makes perfect sense. I did find what looks like a mate for the 10 pin connector, but was also stumped on the 40 pin version. I think you are probably right that the male for that is likely only available as a thru-hole PCB style.

And if we found that PCB mate, that would be sweet. I never got that far.

Took a look and here is what I figure:

    Toyota 90980-12557
Likely converts over to TE 1318389-1
    Mating male connector TE 1318384-2

Haven't looked at the 10 pin one yet though. I don't have a 3rd gen so don't really have a way to confirm 100% on that, but many of the Toyota connectors are TE rebrand and the parts listed above appear to match up.

    Thanks for the input.
Maybe I will try to put some effort into reviving this, or making my version of the 2whl lo mod plug and play for 3rd gen.

Just not really interested in anytime lock much, and not a single person has done my 3rd gen 2 whl lo, so doesnt seem to be worth it there...

Regardless, thank you that is really useful help.

But seriously TE, 2.2 mm pitch? WTF is that?Thought life was too easy for us?

Yep no worries. Although I get your point if nobody has tackled the 2lo mod that you did a write up for then it may not be worth digging too deep into it. Looks like a cool mod so figured I chip in a little if I could.

I agree, I think you could have a marketable product.

I would indeed be willing to pay for a plug and play type mod for 2 wheel lo and rear anytime lock. I believe I could do the work on my own with what you have laid out. But, for me to take on the project, and commit to the cutting and splicing, I would need to have a direct need for it. Currently I don't. But with a plug n play application, I could self justify the purchase with, "in case I ever need it, I will have it".

Also, I am sure there are those out there that could use this mod that may not be willing to take on the DIY.
