Snow won’t be too deep up there? Me and my Subaru driving buddy (who always goes with me to bowman/sawmill) were gunna go fishing, but if people think there’s not a lot of snow back there then I’d much rather fish up there. I wonder is sawmill is still frozen over? This pic is from January

With these storms, many of the streams in the Sierras will be near flood stage on Sunday.
    I suggest you stay home.

Just heard on the radio Yosemite park rangers are cancelling all reservations and asking people in the park to leave by 5pm.

This happened to me last March. We were super stoked to have the whole place to ourselves...set up camp...starting making dinner, cracked open some beers....and then found out we had to leave.

The trick is to hide/hang out till Merced floods, then you're stuck and have to stay. It's magnificent and powerful and awesome. The whole valley rumbles.

Unless it floods like '97, then you might regret that decision.

A few weeks back a group of us tried to go to Bowman but we got stopped by a snow plow that took pics of our license plates and said that the road in was closed to vehicles so I'm not sure if it will be open yet.

Yeah i remember asking questions about who the plow guy was. Forest Service closes the road from Jan1-March31. Of course they can make up whatever rules they want depending on the conditions. I give no fucks, catch me if you can. (some may not approve, to each their own)

Question for you guys...anyone ever hit up trails around Lakes Basin, am heading up the 395 with the wife to hit as much dirt as possible on the way. OUr end destination is Lakes Basin for a few days, then to my father in-laws in Greenville, load up a trailer and haul shit back to socal. We have been putting off the picking up of stuff, but figured would take about ten days and explore my home state. Was looking at two trails in general if any of you have run em. Or recommend some trials around there. Planning on last two weeks in May. I know we got shit for snow this year, so hoping it is not too socked in still.

Was looking at Gold Lake Trail and Gold Valley Trail in Lakes basin area.

Sounds like @taco lifter just got lucky and went through after somebody else left the gate open, then another dude rolled through and closed/locked the gate (like he's supposed to).

I was at Clear Creek over the weekend. The way that works is you're supposed to get two permits from CCMA, a Clear Creek vehicle pass and a permit to go through the Serpentine ACEC, at least 48 hours before you plan on being there. You then call the BLM Central Coast office to get the codes to both gates (one gate at Coalinga Rd and one gate at New Idria).
