I am thinking about removing the large black decals that separate the front and back door windows. Any experience or advice would be greatly appreciated.

All you need is a heat gun and patience.

I like it - gives it a whole glass look with the tinted front and back windows.

I let each side sit towards the sun for about ten minutes to soften the vinyl then I just started pulling it off in one piece. I used some alcohol to clean up the small amount of adhesive residue left over. I would do it again.

Yeah, looks too much like a 2nd gen with them removed.

I removed them. It was a bitch to get all the dried glue off. I tried the sun, blow dryer, alcohol, panel wipe and lighter fluid. Finally got it to budge after soaking the area with Goof Off Gel. Took two hours.

I really like the new look! My truck is less than one year old, only has 6k miles and sits in my garage when not out driving. I was amazed at how dried out the decal already was. I am glad I did this sooner rather than later when it begins deteriorating.

Leave it in the sun or use a hair dryer, don't use a heat gun. After it's off, use 3M adhesive remover to get the residue off. I used it all the way around on my truck for the badges and old bed stickers and it works great on paint without any damage.
