Anybody have any insight or info on when the next gen Frontier will roll out? I thought it was supposed to be 2018, but just went to the site and it’s still the same old Frontier with late 90s interior feel and technology. What the fuck is taking them so long!?

I love my Tacoma but I’m excited to see the next Frontier.

You'd probably get better answers on the Frontier forum.

they had a new one at an autoshow went to last month. they didn't change a thing. shitty cheap gross plastic poorly clipped together. its still a dogshit vehicle. I would rather have the ranger and even that was disappointing to look at

I have a feeling its going to look like the frontier in other countries with more street grocery getter features than off road. I’m glad toyota didnt go the hilux route with the tacoma!

Reports seem to indicate late 2018 (2019 MY) for the next gen Frontier. Could all be BS though.

I think he was being serious. That's the place I'd probably go to find an answer about a frontier.

What auto show did you see the "new" Frontier at? Do you have a link?

Interesting that there is nothing new on the Nissan site regarding the Frontier.

The 2018 Frontier is the same as the 2017 other than some "special" additions. The 3Gen has not been announced for the US market. Nissan

Bottom line a 3gen is coming. It most likely will be a 2019 or later model year.

Watch them get a hold of the 2.8 Cummins and scare the pants off of TW. It'd be interesting to see the 2.8 with a 3.1 refresh similar to the 3rd gen Tacoma where Nissan gives it a facelift but maintains much of the original design in order to secure a reliable platform. I'm open for anything that forces Toyota to be creative again.

    I agree. What's the point?

Can't say it's for fuel economy because it takes over 150k miles just to break even once you factor in the option cost and the extra cost of diesel over gasoline. DEF makes that number even higher.
Longevity, yeah, maybe, but the 4.0 Tacoma seems to have no issue breaking 300k. How long are you really going to drive something?
If it's for the extra tow rating, you probably should have bought a full size and it would have been cheaper and more capable.

I struggle to see the benefits for a US truck. Overseas without the emissions regs that add so much to the cost it makes more sense.

Agree with regulations making diesel a big downside. But they still get better fuel economy even if not broke in. Ram ecodiesel gets better fuel economy than tacoma. Grand cherokee ecodiesel averages about 24mpg and 30 highway on a 4wd. And they get up and go in a hurry
