What kind of lift if any should i get?

I know there are loads of forums already discussing this subject, and I am sorry to be making another post out of it. But I am curious what type of lift I should get, if I should at all. I have a 2016 Toyota Tacoma Sport DCLB 2WD.

Now someone has told me to not lift my 2WD, but I don't really understand why not? I know they aren't typically used to go off road, but what if I just like the look of a lifted truck. Is it that bad to lift it? Do I look like a complete douche if i lift a 2wd truck?

In it, it says that for 2wd specifically to get Allied Spindles and I try clicking the link that he provides, but it doesn't seem to lead me to the product he suggested. I did other research and it sounds like some people used those with the Bilstien 5100s. And I have heard of other lift kits for 2wd like blocks, suspension lift, body lift, coil over, etc. I don't know which one is best. Simply put I am just a confused beginner. Any help and direction would be greatly appreciated!

 

If you aren't off roading, then just go grab some strut spacers and blocks and call it a day. No sense waste money if you won't be benefiting from a more expensive "correct" way to lift.

LMFAO that was a fun read. I have always wondered why people give two shits what other people do with their trucks. I wheel the snot out of mine so I put a "proper" lift in so I dont break stuff. If you just want height and you don't mind sacrificing a little drivability, do what these guys suggest. Follow you own vibe and fuck the rest - ain;t nothing wrong with wanting your ride to look bad ass.

1" front lift for leveling via coilovers?

 

5100s have a noticeable difference. Especially for body roll, and going over moderate to large bumps. I love the way mine ride

 

Fox 2.0 Performance Series Coil-Over IFP. About 1" of lift. Combine that with the rear Fox 2.0 With or without resi's.

Lol that was funny to read. How would one person know if the 2wd was locked in the back? They wouldn't know. I've seen 2wd locked keep up with 4wd on trails. So really you cant ever hate because you never know.

 

OP - just get a spacer if you are not planning on offroading it. Cheapest solution. If not get a Bilstein 5100 kit. Best bang for buck

 

When I was younger I had a 2wd ford ranger and a come-a-long. I went all over the place with that thing lol

I don't get what's wrong with lifting a 2wd. A lifted 2wd truck is more capable then a stock height 2wd truck. That alone should justify lifting it, if it's worth it that depends on the person. I think it is.

 

Thank you everyone for the replies! I would like to be able to take it off road and have it be as functional as possible. I know this is the more expensive route, but it is the right way to do it in my opinion. I will check out the 5100 kit.

I just got my first Tacoma Prerunner and it a 4x2. I just ordered Fox’s 2.0 coil overs front and rear, they said it will lift 0-3. I also installed a Detroit true trac. I understand it’s not a 4 x 4 but just love the look of it. I think this truck will do fine on the street and mild trails. I say do what you feel if you like it ,do it .

 

I just got the 5100s. It's a daily driver for me, so I was looking for anything crazy. I do go out on some trails during the weekend when I can. Like you said, give yourself the option of being able to go off pavement. It's a good budget way to get the look you want. At least it was for me!

 

I almost got the 5100, keep me posted on how you like them. I only went with fox because I got a very good deal on all four corners, I paid under 1k for my set up
