ok so last year i opened up my savings acct and did the "keep the change" program BOA has. for those of u who dont know, every time u make a purchase with your debit card, (say for $45.67) the bank rounds the amount up to $46, and credits ur savings account for the difference ($.33). and the deal is they'll match your "change" up to $250 for the year and pay it out annually. well a few weeks ago my big day came. i been watching my acct and accumulated well over $200 easy. to my surprise, my acct was only credited $67.xx for the payout!!!! is there something i missed here? id like to hear from someone who has BOA and is doing the same thing, or hell, a BOA employee would be even better. i just wanna know wtf is goin on?

They started deducting a bit of money so I never use my debit card. Sure it was only like thirty cents here and so forth..but that shit adds up over time. No need to give them any of my money

Purchases with rewards or ATM cards are not eligible for matching. We will match 100% of your Keep the Change transfers for the first three months after you enroll. Thereafter, we will match 5%. The maximum total match is $250 per year. Matching funds are paid annually after the anniversary of enrollment on accounts that remain open and enrolled. Bank of America will only match Keep the Change transfers on up to five checking accounts per depositor (including joint depositors) or up to five checking accounts per household, whichever is less. Eligible savings accounts include Regular Savings (or Market Rate Savings in WA and ID), which requires a minimum opening balance of $25 ($1 in WA and ID) and pays a variable annual percentage yield that is 0.10% as of 05/11/2010. Money Market Savings accounts are also eligible. We may cancel or modify the Keep the Change service or any matching promotions at any time. Matching funds will be reported to the IRS on Form 1099. Fees may reduce earnings. Patent pending.

Well that ain't worth a fuck. They failed to mention the 5% part. So anyone got any suggestions for a good credit union? One that won't give u the runaround?

Why is that? What are the benefits opposed to a bank?

maybe its just me...but free money is just that...free, regardless of the %.

Take for example my Cabela's credit card, it only pays out 1% on non Cabela's purchases but its 1% coming back on money that's going to be spent anyways. I decided to put all my expenses on the card to start racking the points up quicker and in less than year I have about $220 bucks.

As for keep the change...I'm enrolled but I don't use my checking account for daily purchases so its quite useless to me but everyone has their own preferences.

Do credit unions even have reward programs that pay you for spending your own money, i have never looked/payed attention?
