I think the big difference is I work mostly by myself. If I get hit with something (especially a bucket), I've got bigger problems.

Meh. Cars were always going to get faster, so no surprise there. To me, the problem then becomes not long enough of a shutdown area. Scott K may have died regardless of the track length, but it didn’t help that the shutdown area was crap. YMMV, but drag racing has always been 1/4 mile.

Yup. This place does stamping, coining, CNC machining, and assembly. Mainly medical devices.

Medtronic?! Did some moonlight for an Electronic Contract Manufacture here at one time in the past. They were in the top 10 in the US but of course most everything was made overseas. Did the Engineering and development here though. Medtronic was a large customer. Just a guess... And you may not be able to confirm or deny

There's a medical device plant being built here, now. Going to make things even more interesting in the labor market here. I think about a thousand jobs when it's fully under way.

NHRA isn't the only Drag Racing assoc that went to 1k ft !! , Drag Boat racing especially the Lucas oil Drag Boat series and NJBA both went to 1k ft in their Fuel boats and some of their Alcohol boat classes

The main reason for NHRA going to 1k ft was many reasons which are slow the cars down , insurance carriers requesting to slow them down and as you mentioned track length especially the shutdown area

Trying to get additional land for increased track length has proved extremely difficult for most track owners . Some tracks not on the Nationals circuit a few have more than enough shutdown area . For example I've raced at Tuscon Dragway in Arizona and this is a 1/4 mile facility and their shutdown area is 1.5 miles past the top end

Like I mentioned I like Door car racing on a small tire and on a 1/8th mile track . the 660' is much easier on parts as you're on the loud pedal for a shorter interval

So an update on this one.
I checked 4 times that day. 10/1230/1400/1530. The nitwits are in LA. Nope nope nope nope.
Turns out the package was there the whole time. Got there at 9:00.
So I find this out when I’m in Barstow. The plan is to have them ship the package to Dallas. Only thing is “we don’t have time to babysit you guys” my folks got pissed. My folks got corporate involved. Last I heard my plates will meet me in Dallas.

The kid has a freaking hole in the side of his mouth and his teeth still look like shit! Is dental hygiene a lost art? Is it that hard for him to brush his teeth?
