30k service doesn't even call for tranny flush or drain and fill so it doesn't matter

I didn't realize this was the gen 3 section, gen 2 you can do a drain and fill. Chill buddy

Like I said, 30k service doesn't call for any of that so there's no point in discussing it. Enjoy your turd gen

I have a 2016 and taking it in for the 30K service next month. I checked my book and other than all the items to inspect and check the only items that will cost me anything is the following: oil, filter, engine filter, tire rotation.

It is not a Hawaii thing, at 30k all dealers come up with that list

Don't think that 4.137% is the sales tax. Note that the total says "Pre-Tax Total"... Bet they will add another 10%+ for sales tax.

Its Excise tax here in Hawaii, and that tax rate is for all the neighbor islands, not Oahu. We gotta pay another .5 percent for the rail. So this might not be a Servco dealer after all. Its either Maui, Big Island or Servco Kauai.

Hey guys I went to the 1 of 2 dealers we have here, Hilo & Kona, which are supposedly part of Servco Hawaii and 100mi apart, and went to parts to buy a qt of Toyota gear oil and tube of grease to check my rear diff and lube ujoints. Well they told me they don't sell any oil or grease over the counter! So I said what do I use and he said " whatever Napa has is fine and to get the Red Sticky grease! He said they get their oil in drums for service and grease tooo? Talk about being a f***ed up place we have! So all you upper 48 don't complain about your service and parts dept's, you got it good compared to Hawaii!!!

Exactly. Ask them if you should bring your own astroglide. Go by your manual, not by dealer recommended services. I have a 2006 taco with 170,000 miles and that’s all I’ve ever done and now my son drives it!

Run, do not walk away from this greedy dealer! They are packing their 30K service quote with products & services that are unnecessary, all to line their pockets, with your money.

Some people know how to work on their trucks.
And are some people that depend on the dealer....

I've seen the service schedule. All I will have the dealer do at 30k is change the oil and oil filter. I might change the air filter and cabin filter if I feel like it. But nothing extra will be done until 60k when the plugs are changed.

You can do all that for $75 or less, the dealer will charge you $500.

I’ll just fuck with them and get a quote, they said $300 to change my spark plugs. I said my home garage charges $20 can you match that? They laughed and said of course not, but if you do it then it’s not warrantied by Toyota. I replied, it’s 60k, it’s out of warranty anyway and hung up.

I guess I'm a little late on my 30,000 mile checkup for my '96 Tacoma with 414,000 miles on it. It's never been back to a dealer for a checkup or anything else.
In fact, I've never taken any of the dozens of vehicles I've owned in for a checkup.

Based on what they quoted you, I've probably saved almost a hundred grand over the last 45 years.
But seriously, dealer maintenance checkups are more for adding to the dealer's bottom line than anything else. Change you oil at 5,000 miles and call it a day.

What about changing out the blinker fluid? Gotta change it from winter to summer fluid, I’d say maybe $50 for that.
