I'm wondering this too. I've seen other threads on this but the Amazon links were out of date

What Linewalker said, I put in the Subaru tweeters and Kicker speakers in the doors and it sounds great.

JL Audio TW3 is an amazing subwoofer, especially in limited areas behind the seats.

If you are going for a great system, don't bother with the kicker tweeters and speakers. It will sound better than stock yes, but so will Walmart speakers. For the same price you can just get components such as Morels or JL instead of spending almost 100 on tweeters alone and then buying coaxials on top of that. There is no reason to go with 4 tweeters up front aside from everyone listening to a post that was made on here due to the plug and play nature of the tweeter harness. From there you should ideally hook up a 5 channel amplifier to power the speakers and the sub woofer.

The oem dash speakers will need to be unplugged or replaced, and modification of the front doors will be necessary for the components.
Kicker front and rears can be had for the same price as just the fronts as the morels, which only come in a 6 1/2. Morels are probably better quality than the kicker priced at $100 more, but I guess it depends on how much of an audiophile the driver is.

I went to crutchfeild and ordered kicker front componets 6x9 that come with crossover and tweeters and rear kicker 6.5’s. Hooked them up to a 5 channel amp and they sound amazing.

I installed Infinity reference 6x9 components in the front (https://www.amazon.com/Infinity-REF...8-1&keywords=infinity+reference+6x9+component) and Reference 6.5s in the rear (https://www.amazon.com/Infinity-REF...082434&sr=1-1&keywords=infinity+reference+6.5). Not quite the plug and play scenario the people on here seem to prefer with the Subaru Kicker tweeters, but I never stray from infinity and install wasn't very difficult.
    All in all, around $200
Insane upgrade over factory sound and significant bass from these 6x9s, even without an amp.

Careful running infinity speakers on factory amplifiers, their impedanceis lower causing shorter life span.

Do the non-JBL systems even have a factory amp?

do it!! you wont regret it! factory tweeter wiring is a bit involved, but that won't change with different speakers

Yes, it's built into the radio. They're designed to push a 4ohm load, most infinity speakers run 2.5 to 3 ohms.

Yeah these pull 3 I know. Is that not one of the selling points, though? Lower impedence = more amps to the speaker? or is that your point that pulling more amps than the stereo can handle is bad for it.

Lots of variables into longevity. But yes, a higher current draw from a radio than it was intended for is not a good thing.
