Wouldn’t a “true duel” exhaust truly have two mufflers?

 

That's why OP used "duel" instead of "dual". Each pipe fights for the right to exhaust through the the single muffler.

I just put a rather aggressive 3" pipe, single side exit, cat-back system on my Taco...I'm not unhappy with the exhaust, really, moreso the sound of a V6 in a single pipe. Your "True Dual" set up must make it a tad more mellow.

The other was a dual cat back. Well sound is subjective. It is not loud but still much different than stock. I like it. I can hear my stereo while driving but I do have a better sound from the exhaust than stock.

 

great mod, it doesn't really matter what the haters think, I'm sure all of us have wasted money on our rides at some point,
if its something that you want to do regardless of the opinions of others or price, that's what drives the on going builds. Not
every one is going to like it, but some one will use it with some sort of tweek.

OP, looks like a solid setup bud, but yeah, addressing that crossover - If I had been a bit more savvy, I'd have looked into custom fitting a fix when I installed my 3" MBRP. Next time.

Yes, true dual exhaust is one pipe for each bank of cylinders. This is a dual exhaust, but not true duals.

 

GR engines are a 60 degree V. That gives it fairly even exhaust pulses. Great for smoothness but doesn't yield the deeper throatier sound that a 90 degree V gives with it's uneven exhaust pulses.

Name brand stuff he mentioned is going to be mandrel bent tubing, which is a nice plus. At the price you paid I would expect mandrel bends.
