I have binge read this thread and I am jealous. Looks like a blast.
I am very lucky to live in this general area-I have easy access to those awesome never ending quebec trails.
I will say as a bit of insider info - if you dont bring a chainsaw (two would be better) and some type of sleeping shelter with bugscreen you are nuts. Bonkers. If you think you are going to hack through an area by hand that got hit by a microburst your nuts. If you think you will be able to sleep without bug netting in quebec bush you are even more nuts. Leave the romantic expo notions at home. Travel like the people you are going to be seeing on the trail. Bring lots of great food. Lots of beers. And a chainsaw. Probably a shotgun in there somewhere too.

Doesn't look like it will give much of a flat lay so you might wake up with a sore back.

Depending on temp as well you might need a sleeping pad under you or under quilt to keep warm over night.

Hennessy has the deep jungle on sale right now if you want a good one.

    https://ca.hennessyhammock.com/products/deep-jungle-asym-zip

Same brand as mine but different model. This one is good for 3 season where mine is 4 season. Don't remember how tall you. But if you're 6ft like me you need to upsize to the xl model which is longer. From all the reviews I've read even though they say 6ft for those you're right on the limit and it's not as comfortable.

It is a bit more money though than what you posted but much higher quality.

    For reference this is mine
    https://ca.hennessyhammock.com/products/explorer-deluxe-asym-zip
Even with it on sale it comes out to be more when you throw in the 4 season insulation part

You've got time to prepare for this. One of my travelling compadres went elk hunting in Quebec last year. Was able to traverse the border both ways with a shotgun and hunting rifle. Part of me thinks he was able to carry his pistol, too, but I'll double check on that.

You can only carry a pistol if you have a trappers license. And if it's not hunting season I don't know if you can carry it

Possibly. I'm not crazy about the idea of having guns with us because shit happens then when people are drinking etc.

Considering it's just for bears can also just be smart about cooking and have bear deterrents.

People camp in bear country all the time in Canada lol. Its fine without a gun. Just don't be stupid

That's my directed to you Leo btw.
Just general post really no need for guns.

    From my buddy-

“Easy peasy. No pistols, just long gun, bolt action. Prepaperwork is avail from canandian customs folks. Plan an extra half hour stop. You declare it in line or pull in to the side area where you can enter the building if that comes first, leave the gun in its case in the car, and give them the paperwork. They come out to verify the serial number matches and eventually you get a piece of paper they you have to keep with you the entire time like a permit. The gun was unloaded and locked, and the case was locked, and the ammo was separately stored and locked.”

If anyone I can't trust around a firearm is coming I don't know if I want to be there. It's a tool. I would hope even with copious amounts of alcohol we would be mature enough not to hurt ourselves or others with any of our tools. If I do make it I'm planning on bringing a chainsaw, again a tool, a dangerous one if used carelessly but still a tool. As I type this I have this staring at me.
    IMG_20180407_101506.jpg
Anyone of these can maim or kill if used carelessly. I'm comfortable around firearms and other dangerous tools. I would expect others who aren't to just not use them.

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
Looking through a good portion of the thread, it looks like a good trip. I'd see if I could tag along, but I'm on the other coast and looking at the OP there are already six rigs. That's about all you would want on something like this. Have a good trip.

I'm around them while hunting and at my uncle's in the US. Doesn't bother me but just think any tools and alcohol shouldn't mix. After seeing how crazy things got in ardbeg with Eugene trying to throw a propane canister in the fire lol.

Really do not think guns are needed for camping and this is just American I need a gun with be everywhere I go logic.

I've camped in Algonquin and plenty of other bear areas without firearms with no issues. Hell there were two bears walking around the shell in Perry sound when we left ardbeg in October. I've seen them camping plenty of times. Don't see a need for them.

For one if you don't have a good shot you might just piss off the bear even more, to if it's just for noise to scare them why not just use bear bangers like I have? Or just use bear spray.
Generally if you are smart with your food and given we're a group and will be noisy you won't have bears coming near you.

Hell you might be more likely to shoot someone while the bear charges if that's the plan lol.

Sorry I might be biased as I've camped in plenty of bear areas with no issue and never once felt I needed a gun to protect myself while there. Even when seeing them. They're black bears. Fuckin look at them funny and they get scared away.

    Guns are not needed.
And I have my PAL just no guns as I hunt with a bow. Still wouldn't even bring the bow.

We're not a part of bears diet as such we'd only be attacked if you cornered or startled one as they are generally afraid of us.

As such any encounters with bears are usually food related and given Eugene has already taken the initiative to come up with some general rules one of which is proper camping and cook away from where you sleep, we should be fine.

This that and the other thing.
Long gun you can carry any time as long as u are transporting it as stated above and also have a PAL. No pistols unless u have a restricted firearms licence. But even then, u have to notify police when u will be transporting it. The route u are taking and how long the drive is. U also have to check in at the destination lol and we can not bring guns into the USA no exceptions. But u guys can bring them up here as long as it's for hunting lol

Yeah, it's not the storage and transport that anyone's concerned about, it's the border crossing.

Makes sense. You have a lot more camping experience than I do. I didn't know that crazy fuckin Russian did that...or was too intoxicated myself to have noticed. I carry bear spray in the truck at all times (urban "animals" can also be aggressive). What are bear bangers?

As long as it's not a prohibited firearm and you have proper storage its not an issue . My uncle does it all the time when he comes up to hunt.

It only becomes an issue if you don't have the proper paper work or transport.

It's made by tru flare. It's a pen launcher with different options, screamers, flares, bear bangers etc.

The bangers just launch into the air screeching while the go up then explodes like a gun shot. They're louder than fireworks.

You have not even tasted the crazy part, when me and Jake were (I was) poring gas canister into live fire and it all went to the next level, canister went on fire in my hands, melted table next to us, I was all on fire and the fire went on for the rest of the night. Probably one of the craziest things I've done....
But I am not drinking that much on such a remote trip, just one bottle of Vodka...
    Jk. :bananadead:

And if the bears visit us, I have plenty of experience hunting and chasing bears with an axe. While I do have license and love guns, bringing it with a random people is not something somebody should do, plus there are millions of other ways to get injured :anonymous:
